I am currently working as a seasonal archaeological technician for North Cascades National Park until October.

Description

I lived overseas in the Seychelles for eleven years, and Venezuela for two years. I consider myself to be adventurous and ready to explore new cultures and experiences.
I returned to Kentucky to raise my 4 children who are now all grown and following their own paths, so I am off on my own adventure!
I worked this summer as an archaeological technician in the North Cascades National Park and loved every minute of it. I have appreciated the opportunity to explore new locations and meet people from around the world.
I would like to travel not just to see places but to really get to know the people, customs, food, history, flora, and fauna. I am happy, healthy, full of energy, really enjoy working hard and learning new things, but most especially, meeting new people.

Regresé a Kentucky para criar a mis 4 hijos, que ahora son adultos y siguen sus propios caminos, ¡así que me voy en mi propia aventura!
Trabajé este verano como técnico arqueológico en el Parque Nacional North Cascades y disfruté cada minuto. He apreciado la oportunidad de explorar nuevos lugares y conocer gente de todo el mundo.
Me gustaría viajar no solo para ver lugares, sino para conocer realmente a la gente, las costumbres, la comida, la historia, la flora, y la fauna. Soy feliz, sano, lleno de energía, realmente disfruto trabajando duro y aprendiendo cosas nuevas, pero sobre todo, conocer gente nueva.

I have learned a lot in my 53 years and continue to learn more every day! Some of my main skills revolve around DIY home renovation projects and landscaping. I also worked as a health inspector for the past 8 years so I am very knowledgeable about restaurants and food safety. I really enjoy being busy and working on different projects both inside and outside the home.

During the past several winters I completed several remodeling projects on our home including installing a complete second kitchen downstairs, remodeling the kitchen upstairs, building and tiling a walk-in shower, and tiling the laundry room and two fireplaces. From this experience I became pretty good at plumbing, basic electric, basic carpentry, and dry wall installation and finishing. Then there is always the continual maintenance like painting, caulking, fixing leaks and clogged drains, re-tipping the masonry, and more. I also remodeled another home from two of my adult children to live in. I enjoy learning new skills and always want to do them right the first time or I won't feel satisfied.

During the summers I work on multiple projects outside and have established a garden with raised beds, several rock lined flower beds and terraces, installed a pergola, fencing, replaced the decking, installed drainage, a catchment basin, built a concrete paver patio, and planted several trees. I am definitely not one to sit around and I think all this stuff is fun!

As far as children go, I raised 4 of them on my own and they are all still talking to me, lol.

He aprendido mucho en mis 53 años y sigo aprendiendo más cada día! Algunas de mis habilidades incluyen proyectos de renovación de mi casa y trabajando en el jardin. También trabajé como inspectadora de salud durante los últimos 8 años, y tengo mucho conocimiento sobre restaurantes y seguridad alimentaria. Realmente disfruto estar ocupado y trabajar en diferentes proyectos adentro y afuera.

Durante los últimos inviernos completé varios proyectos de remodelación en nuestra casa, incluida la instalación de una segunda cocina completa en el sotano, la remodelación de la cocina en el piso primero, la construcción y el revestimiento de una ducha, el cuarto de lavado, y dos chimeneas. A partir de esta experiencia, me volví sufficiente bueno en plomería, electricidad básica, carpintería básica e instalación y acabado de paneles de yeso. Y siempre hay el mantenimiento continuo como pintar, calafatear, reparar fugas y desagües obstruidos, reperar la mampostería y más. También remodelé otra casa de mis hijos adultos menores para vivir. Disfruto aprendiendo nuevas habilidades y siempre quiero hacerlas bien la primera vez o no me sentiré satisfecho.

Durante los veranos trabajo en múltiples proyectos al aire libre y establecí un jardín con canteros elevados, varios macizos de flores y terrazas revestidos de rocas, instalé una pérgola, cercas, reemplacé la plataforma, instalé drenaje, un depósito de captación, construí un patio de adoquines de concreto y plantó varios árboles. ¡Definitivamente no soy de los que se quedan sentados y creo que todo esto es divertido!

En cuanto a los niños, crié a 4 de ellos a mi mismo y todavía me hablan, jajaja.

I feel that learning new skills is what makes you grow as a person and I never want to stop growing and developing. I love to help others and share the knowledge I have gained, and found that everyone has something to teach and share as long as you are open to the lessons.

Siento que aprender nuevas habilidades es lo que te hace crecer como persona y nunca quiero dejar de crecer y desarrollarme. Me encanta ayudar a los demás y compartir el conocimiento que he adquirido, y descubrí que todos tienen algo que enseñar y compartir, si estan abiertos a las lecciones.
