Description
We decided to start Workaway because we both love traveling abroad and wanted not only to visit other countries, but also to experience local life more deeply. Through Workaway, we can live and communicate with local people, which allows us to truly understand their daily lives and cultures. We were attracted to these new and meaningful experiences, and that is why we started Workaway together.
What brings us happiness is cultural exchange. By talking with people from different cultural backgrounds, we can discover worlds that we have never known before. Stepping outside our comfort zone also helps us grow and find new sides of ourselves. For these reasons, we believe that experiences through Workaway will be valuable and fulfilling for us.
We actually met through volunteer work and became close friends. Through volunteering, we have realized how exciting it is to build friendships and connections with people from diverse backgrounds. That is why we would love to explore new worlds once again through volunteering. -

More details about your skills
We have experience working as volunteers, including managing Instagram accounts and organizing crowdfunding projects. We also have basic computer skills and are comfortable using tools such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Zoom. In addition, we are independent and proactive, and we are used to planning our own trips and taking initiative when needed. Below, we introduce our individual skills and abilities.
First workawayer:
Hello, my name is Yuka, and I am currently a student at Osaka Metropolitan University in Japan. I have worked part-time at a hotel for one year, where I am responsible for cloakroom duties such as handling and storing guests’ luggage. Through this job, I have learned basic cleaning skills, proper manners, and polite communication.
Also, I took piano lessons during my childhood and can play at a basic level. In addition, I truly enjoy working with children and have participated in many volunteer activities. Through volunteering at children’s cafeterias and serving as an assistant leader at children’s camps, I have learned how to communicate with and support children effectively.
Furthermore, I completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) program during my two years of high school. As part of the program, I studied Visual Arts and created six artworks. Through this experience, I developed not only my drawing and painting skills, but also the ability to explore my ideas deeply, think creatively about how to express them, and turn those ideas into art works. Although I am a bit clumsy at times, I value honesty and sincerity, and I always approach each task with care and a serious attitude.
Second workawayer:
Hi, my name is Leqi. I am a Chinese student currently studying abroad at Waseda University in Japan, and I live independently in Tokyo.
Mandarin Chinese is my native language. I can also speak a little Cantonese, and I am fluent in both English and Japanese, which allows me to communicate comfortably in international environments.
Living alone has helped me develop many practical life skills. I cook for myself, take care of daily chores, and am very confident in my cleaning and organizing skills. I grew up in a family that is a bit perfectionist about cleanliness, so I naturally pay attention to details. All the furniture in my room, including my desk, cabinets, and bed, was assembled entirely by myself.
I also enjoy handcrafts and creative work. I use clay and crochet to make jewelry and practical items for daily life, such as lampshades and clothing accessories. In addition, I once took a one-week pottery course, during which I made several bowls, plates, and cups. I believe that my ability to search for information and learn independently is what supports me in acquiring these skills.
Back in China, I also helped my family take care of plants, and I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals.
I am independent, optimistic, curious about the world, and able to turn ideas into action. I believe my skills are not limited to what I have listed here, and through Workaway, my skill description will continue to grow. -
