Hello! I'm currently looking for a workaway project for the summer before my studies start, I've worked on yachts in the Mediterranean for the past 3 seasons and love hands on work! I can also cook :)

  • Description

Throughout my time outside my studies, I have resided and worked along the North Yorkshire and Cornish Coastlines. During the summer seasons, I worked seasonal roles in bars and restaurants, effectively managing my time between academic pursuits and recreational activities by the seaside. My affinity with sailing and surfing was born from this, and the exploration in these sectors has equipped me with really wholesome memories and skills that would be useful across a wide range of environments.

I'm a real keen lover of food too, my parents owned a restaurant for most of my childhood and I was brought up around a wide range of international foods and spices. I really admire organic and locally sourced products, and finding new recipes by culture, and of course, sharing it with friends and families.

  • More details about your skills

From a young age I have gained excellent transferable skills from a family run business. Working here was a great experience as it taught me a lot on how to work within a team and independently. Whilst here I practiced and developed key skills that can be adapted to multiple work environments. These skills mainly consist of :

    - Professional standard of presentation
    - Bartending / Mixology
    - Customer service skills
    - Cooking and helping within the kitchen
    - Changeover of rooms
    - Cleaning and decorating

However more recently, I have applied myself to more manual type labour, such as landscape gardening, property development and as of recent, sailing! I believe these skills would make me very useful across a wide range of responsibilities, and would love to also excel these skills sets and learn new skills along the way.
The skills that I have developed since around 2018 consist of :

    - Time efficiency and programme management
    - Budget management
    - Excellent sense of creativity and problem solving
    - Pruning / weeding / installing varieties of plants and garden assortments
    - Painting & decorating
    - Woodwork and varnishing
    - Metal treatment and maintenance
    - Rope-work / Splicing

  • What else ...

I live close to a quiet beach that is ideal for wild swimming and surfing. I also enjoy snorkelling and freediving and have free dived off the North Yorkshire coast, West Wales near St David's Head and all around Cornwall. I like to maintain my personal fitness, doing running as a means of exercise. I’ve competed in cross- countries and junior marathons within the past, and have plans to compete in future events. I also played within football clubs, competing across the North East of England, including Newcastle, County Durham and Yorkshire.

Alongside this, I’m really interested in videography and camera work of all types, but my specialty is 35mm and celluloid film. I studied a Diploma for two years at UAL and qualified as a photographer with dissertations in my first and second year. I then pursued this study to higher education in Falmouth, Cornwall. My time at university was valuable as I learnt how to professionally shoot photographs, but due to covid restrictions my learning at campus became restricted and this impacted my studies, so I left my studies to practice recreationally as I found it more enjoyable.
