  • Description

    Hello!
I am currently travelling through Canada. I finished my undergraduate degree in Linguistics last summer and so looking for new adventures. I am a very positive, adaptive and a people person. I am very active and sociable. I enjoy new challenges, I work well independently and in a team and I always apply myself conscientiously to tasks or projects. I believe I also possess excellent organisation and logic skills. I have additional work experience in an office based administrator role for a local mental health and disability charity.

    Teaching
I have obtained a TEFL qualification for teaching English as a foreign language. I have some experience teaching English abroad a couple of years ago. I have also tutored GCSE maths (to a 16 year old) so am more than able to help with mathematics as it is universal.

    Babysitting/childcare
All but one of my 11 cousins are considerably younger than me so I have grown up surrounded by children, I was always tasked to look after them all when we would regularly meet up as a family (they're getting to be teenagers now!). So I have had lots of informal experience with looking after, amusing (sometimes making up games) and helping children out. On top of that I have over 3 years of paid babysitting experience with children ranging from 2 -11. So I am very used to children.

    cooking/shopping
I am an avid cook and vegan. Although I am no professional if presented with ingredients I could easily make something nice to cook. Although I don't eat meat, as my family does, I do sometimes have to handle raw meat so I would be ok to also cook meaty dishes.

    Language Practice
I am a Native English speaker and have completed a TEFL course. This on top of my linguistics degree has made me a lot more attuned to the grammar of English. I have studied Russian for 6 years - although have not managed to have much practice over the last two years so I would say I am at a beginner/intermediate level. My French is limited although I would like to improve my level. Although I am not fluent in many languages, languages do interest me and I always want to try to learn and speak at least some of the local languages of places.

    Help in the house
I have worked for a cleaner in a theatre so am used to mass cleaning not just homes - doing tasks such as hovering, cleaning toilets, sinks etc. I do the bedding, hovering, feeding the animals and washing up. I even sometimes get a little frustrated by dirt and clean out the cupboards. Sometimes it can be very satisfying as well.

    Helping with tourists
I have worked as an Usher for a theatre for 2 years where customer service is crucial for happy audiences. Serving tea and Coffee - I can definitely make you a proper brew now! ;) I've worked as a grants administrator, I answer the phone to the public, liaise with suppliers, applicants, support workers etc. put applications onto a system and more. I have had to deal with complaints in both roles as well. I feel this has strengthened my ability to communicate with the general public, both with small talk and with more serious agendas.

    Animal care/ farming
Dogs are probably the animal I am most fond of - we have two at home and no matter how people friendly I will love your dog should you have any :D. I also have a cat and love him. In a past workaway I worked with sheep and horses and loved it so am sure I would love to be around other farming animals.

    Gardening
I have helped with pruning our trees and bushes in the garden back home as well as clearing the garden. I have done various workaways where I had to also plant seedlings, weed and bag fruits. At university the biggest green space I had was growing herbs on a windowsill. I would be very happy to get my hands...my knees.. my face dirty!

    Building/ general maintenance
I have little - done the odd sawing, rewiring a light switch (my dad's an electrician) and that's about it.... But that doesn't mean I'll be on hand to get stuck in! I have painted rooms in our house before. As a teen I painted a mural on one of my walls - wasn't too complicated but I liked being creative :D.

    Art Project
My first love is drama out of the arts. I worked at a youth theatre. My role included devising and directing pieces of theatre for children aged 7-17. I have written, directed and produced my own play. I love creating thought provoking, physical theatre-esque pieces as I feel it forces you to think more abstractly - which is me. I like coming up with communal art ideas and installations are probably my second love, as I feel art should bring people together.

    Eco project
I care a lot about the environment, try to limit waste, food miles, sustainable living is something I aim to achieve in life so I would love to help (and maybe get some tips?) should you share the same interests.

    Other
If you can think of something else you would like me to do, I'll try. And if I don't succeed first time - I'll try again.
