Our next destination:
Departamento de Santander, Colombia - from Mar 2024 until May 2024 View allDescription
Dear hosts,
I’m Sam from the UK traveling together with my girlfriend Nada, from Egypt. We are recently back in Colombia for the second time in a year, and it’s my third time overall. We are looking to connect with people and interesting projects, get involved in meaningful volunteering work and improve our Spanish.
We spent the second half of 2023, volunteering in a variety of workways in rural areas and traveling in Colombia. We have done various tasks, learnt a lot of new skills and got to know more about Colombian culture and tradition. We have worked in some projects with innovating ideas, been introduced to interesting visions and met many great and warm-hearted volunteers, guests and hosts. We took some time out for Visa reasons, and are now back to explore more of this beautiful part of the world, where we hope to one day live together!
We love to learn and improve our practical skills. We enjoy cooking, gardening, and building things. We are very motivated to learn more about permaculture and sustainable living by working with people who are already doing it. Our interest is particularly strong in subsistence communities who are living off grid and producing most of their own food, and intentional communities. Community values are important to us, and we would like to work with people who treat one another as equals, share, and cultivate love and respect for all.
We practice Yoga, breathing techniques as pathways to increased awareness, contentment, and health, and have a strong interest in traditional medicines and spiritual philosophies around life and health. We love meditation as it's a way to connect deeper with the inner world. We believe that sharing with others the mental and emotional benefits of meditation is very rewarding. Nada has guided meditation groups in previous workways and is intending to pursue a teacher training curse in the near future. I guided Qi gong groups.
Nada has lived in Germany for 7 years, where she worked as a psychiatrist for almost 6 years. She speaks German, Arabic, English and intermediate Spanish.
As for me I have very varied work experience and hobbies. I am a graduate of Adventure Tourism, and can confidently lead groups in activities such as hiking and mountain biking if there is an opportunity.
We are always grateful for any opportunity to learn new things, contribute with our skills, have different experiences and connect with people, because this is how we grow, change and expand our horizon. If we come, we will bring a calm, curious and enthusiastic energy, a warm appreciation for you and your project, a strong work ethic, and the desire to learn and contribute as much as we can.Interests
