Description
I love nature, the great outdoors, travel, and exploring. I'm older than most on this site - 58 - and I have been lucky enough to visit many countries. I'm single now, my kids have grown up, and I want to get some adventure back in my life. I am in full time employment for the Vancouver International Film Festival so I am looking for one or two week work placements. When I'm not working, I like to read, listen to music, or cook. I practice Shambhala meditation, play in a 5-aside soccer team (I'm a Liverpool fan), and I run 20+ km a week. Living in Vancouver, I get to ski, snowboard and paddleboard. All a far cry from my upbringing In North Yorkshire, in the UK. I don't smoke, drink in moderation, and I'm quiet and easygoing. Fully vaxxed.

I'm hard working and reliable. I relate well to people and have excellent communication skills (I have written several books and worked as a professional film critic for many years, at CNN, for Time Out magazine in the UK, and as a freelance - google me). I'm self-motivated and used to responsibility. Outside of my extensive experience as a programmer and manager in the film exhibition sector and as a journalist I have worked on farms in Yorkshire picking fruit and veg, and in the retail sector (a long time ago, admittedly).

What else ...
I've spend my life watching, writing about and thinking about movies - they will always be my passion. I enjoy card games, chess, ping pong, most competitive games. I love crime novels, but also read non-fiction, graphic novels, and whatever else catches my curiosity.
My favourite countries visited are Costa Rica, Guatemala, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Thailand, Canada (obviously - I am an immigrant), France, Italy and Spain, but I think I will always feel most at home in Britain and the USA. Although I love being in nature, I have lived in cities since I was an adult and probably always will. I want a bit of everything in my life. Some more information
