  • Description

As a first-year medieval history, math, and public speaking teacher at a classical 6th–12th grade school, I bring a strong work ethic, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for cultural heritage. This summer, I’m excited to step outside the classroom and share life in places I’ve recently studied.

I’m especially drawn to projects that involve hands-on work — whether that’s helping with construction, carpentry, basic electrical tasks, mechanical projects, gardening, or general upkeep. I’m eager to learn new skills, take direction well, and put in consistent effort wherever I’m needed.

As a Christian, I’m also personally moved to visit the regions where the Apostle Paul traveled and where the early Church Fathers lived, and I hope to experience the cultural depth of Turkey and Greece not just as a visitor, but by working alongside locals.

I love to pitch in, learn and share both stories and skills, and listen well. I’m curious and enthusiastic about experiencing daily life in other communities.

While my professional background is in the classroom — I majored in theology and philosophy and now teach history, pre-algebra, and public performance — I’m equally eager to grow in hands-on work and enjoy taking up new challenges. I have amateur experience in basic carpentry and set construction, home improvement projects, and landscaping, including operating power tools and outdoor machinery during summer work on a golf course. I also enjoy cooking and creative projects.

Learning, analyzing, organizing, and communicating ideas and information is what I love to do as a teacher. I love to write and speak about what I have learned, while listening to what others know and think. I'm especially interested in cultural heritage, traditional crafts, and rural life, and I’m excited to experience and support those things in person.

  • What else ...

I'm naturally organized, routine-oriented, and disciplined, but also willing to be challenged. I’m independent and can take initiative but also follow instructions carefully and appreciate honest feedback.

I’m happy with modest accommodations and am flexible with schedules, especially if there’s a cultural event to be involved in.
