  • Description

Hi! Welcome to the weird and wonderful of Stephen Doyle! Actually, it's not all that weird and wonderful, but maybe one day...✨

I've been travelling around Mexico since sept 2023 🇲🇽🇲🇽❤️ I spent two months workaway in a hostel in Puerta Vallarta, then in a remote jungle project in chiapas for a few weeks.

So, about me: I think most people would describe me as an easy-going chill guy, I always try hard to be down-to-earth, open-minded and accepting. I'm not very good at settling in one place for very long. 🥾I can alternate between introvert and extrovert, ie very good with solitude, or with crowds.

I am already well used to living abroad and in new environs, I've taught English abroad in China, Ukraine and the Czech Republic, and I've worked on a farm/ kibbutz in Israel for 6 months. And I've lived in 6 different cities in the UK. And I've never had any trouble fitting in.

    Other things I'm into:
    -lgbtq rights 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
-film addict 🎬 - everything from 1930s Hollywood, to Star Wars, to foreign arthouse movies, I love watching movies and reading books on movies, that's my happy place/ I'm also a music & spotify addict
    - I DJ 🎧...I may have a digital DJ controller with me if I can fit it in my suitcase, and happy to show people the basics of DJing!
    - Oh, and I love board gaming 🎲, and would love to introduce anyone to the hobby and show you some cool games (I usually bring a couple of small box games wherever I go)!

Happy to get stuck in with any kind of work, I'm a pretty conscientious worker, I've done 7 years in construction, and 6 months on a farm in Israel, so I'm handy with my hands (no pun intended!) Recently, I did 5 months in a backpackers hostel in Scotland. And I've done years volunteering and working with the homeless and most disadvantaged in society. I look forward to picking up some new skills.

References: I have some references that you may find useful! I have hosted scans of these references on imgur and supply link below.

    - a backpackers hostel in Scotland where I volunteered for 5 months, this was through website helpx - https://imgur.com/a/qT7gEvV

    - one is from a previous landlord I have lived with, who confirms I am easy to live with and get along with - https://imgur.com/a/VC9Ucfz

    - reference showing I'm a qualified plasterer - although I haven't done much plastering work in the last ten years. I can still do indoor plastering, but I don't have tools anymore - https://imgur.com/a/V6LiPJb

    - reference from a homeless charity in Belfast I volunteered in for 18 months - https://imgur.com/a/SzeN3oH

    - reference from a food bank in West London where I volunteered - https://imgur.com/a/WEPQHkY

-I have done one previous workaday experience, an animal sanctuary in Scotland where I stayed for 7 weeks. It went very well, but they didn't leave me any reference, because if you look, they are not really in the habit of leaving references: https://www.workaway.info/en/host/396272616661

I just think these references show that my heart is in the right place, and that I'll be easy to get along with. I just want any host to be assured that with me they will have a drama-free, conscientious volunteer/ worker!

One thing however! - I can't eat meat, so if that will be a problem then we might not be a good fit 😞

If you have any other queries or reservations, please send me a message!

    ❤️
