Description
Hello!
I am from the Midlands, in the UK and am so excited to be looking for a workaway visit! I am currently between jobs, and am looking to help in a sustainable project, surround myself with nature and learn about all different types on cultures and ways of life!
During this period outside of my traditional 9-5, I have loved volunteering at a local nature reserve and Victorian houseboat dock regeneration project. I have thoroughly enjoyed sowing seeds for both flowers and vegetables, repotting seedlings and learning about different plant species. Whilst I have more recently put my interest in gardening into practice, I have always found an excessive amount of joy in my house plant selection, there is never a bad time to propagate and spread the happiness! I also love travelling, having lived in the Netherlands during University and France for two ski seasons, but also exploring destinations further afield across South East Asia and also Australia and New Zealand. -

More details about your skills
During my time volunteering at a local nature reserve and river dock restoration site, I have got involved with tasks such as site clearance, planting, repotting and plant identification. I have used gardening tools including secateurs, loppers, pruning saws, bow saws and hatchets, specifically when removing invasive species and creating dead hedges. I have loved harvesting kale and broccoli, but also planting different species of chilis and repotting lettuce!
I have a degree in Physical Geography, studying in Leeds with a year abroad in the Netherlands, and have worked professionally as a Data Analyst after graduating.
I also enjoy crafting, specifically making things out of airdry clay and have just started to learn how to crochet! Additionally, I have grown up around pets, so am very comfortable around dogs and cats of all sizes.
Whilst I was completing my Duke of Edinburgh award, I volunteered at my local cubs unit, this involved leading activities with the children, ensuring their safety and adapting communication styles where needed! -

What else ...
I really enjoy practicing yoga, having began back in 2018 I have loved building strength and progressing into new poses. I also enjoy running; I’ve completed a couple of half marathons and I’m set to take on my first full marathon later this year.
I love growing and maintaining my house plant selection, always trying to propagate something where I can, and have started to grow my own herbs.
I really enjoy travelling and exploring different cultures. I specifically loved my time living in the Netherlands studying, and in France working two ski seasons as I was able to integrate into their way of life. Whilst in France I loved being able to ski most days and explore the mountains, whilst also learning how to snowboard. The mountains in general interest me, when there is no snow I enjoy hiking and camping! -
