Description
Hi! My name is Sofie, I’m 20 years old and recently graduated from high school. I’ve previously used Workaway in France, where I worked at a château and absolutely loved the experience — especially meeting people from different cultures and becoming part of a team. My tasks included helping with cleaning, gardening, setting up rooms, and assisting Madame with daily duties. I really enjoyed being part of both the team and the family atmosphere.
I would describe myself as an open-minded and positive person who loves connecting with people and learning about new cultures. When it comes to work, I’m helpful, energetic, and always ready to take on new challenges with a smile.
This time, my friend Karen and I are hoping to experience the authentic Australian farm life. I have been riding for 12 years and have experience around horses. I’m very excited to learn, help, and be part of daily farm life while exploring a new culture and way of living.
Hi, My name is Karen, and I’m 20 years old.
I’m currently taking a gap year after finishing high school this summer, and I’m so excited to spend it traveling, meeting new people, and experiencing different ways of living. I love learning through community and hands-on work, while also contributing with my own energy, curiosity, and helping hands.
I’ve previously volunteered on a farm in Denmark, where I helped take care of the animals, maintained the garden, and assisted with daily household tasks. It was a meaningful experience that taught me a lot about teamwork, responsibility, and the joy of being part of something bigger.
As a person, I’m friendly, positive, and easy to get along with. I love music (I’ve played the piano since I was a child) and enjoy being active and spending time outdoors. I value good energy, and a friendly atmosphere, and I always approach my work with commitment and a smile;)
My friend Sofie and I are traveling together during our gap year, hoping to have an unforgettable experience – somewhere we can learn new things, meet inspiring people, and lend a helping hand wherever it’s needed. -

More details about your skills
Sofie: I grew up on a farm with my family, where I regularly help with daily tasks such as feeding and caring for animals, harvesting apples, and general maintenance around the property. This has given me a strong sense of responsibility and a good understanding of farm life.
Through my previous Workaway stay in France and different jobs in Denmark — including Holbæk Hospital, Orø Conference Center, and the restaurant Martins Gastro — I’ve gained experience in cleaning, cooking, serving, and organizing.
I’m currently working in a kindergarten with children aged 8 months to 5 years. This job has taught me patience, how to provide care and support, and how to create a positive environment for children.
I’ve worked within many different fields and enjoy taking on new challenges. I’m always open to learning new skills and trying something completely different and exciting.
Karen: I grew up on an island, where I spent a lot of time sailing and exploring nature. This has given me a strong sense of independence, practical skills, and a love for being outdoors.
I have previously volunteered on a farm in Denmark, where I helped care for animals, maintain the garden, and assist with daily household tasks. This experience taught me responsibility, teamwork, and how rewarding hands-on work can be.
In addition, I have worked in a grocery store, a café, and as a substitute teacher at a school, and I have experience taking care of children. These jobs have strengthened my communication skills, patience, and ability to adapt to different environments.
I’ve worked in many different fields and enjoy taking on new challenges. I’m always eager to learn new skills, try different tasks, and contribute wherever I’m needed! -
