  • Description

    Hi, I'm Selma, and I'm 28 and I'm from France !
I am travelling on my own for the first time and I am super happy to have chosen Vietnam for my first journey!! Why? Because I have never been to Asia before and I have heard through many friends that Vietnam was the best destination they ever went to. And from what I saw and read, I am already in love with the richness of the country's culture.

I have also never done a workaway before!

I have always loved discovering new cultures, mainly through movies and tv shows since I didn't get to travel a lot!!
So I compensated by learning the languages: I speak English fluently (I can now brag that I recognize every english accent, from New Zealand to Northern Ireland), I am also good in Spanish (half of my family is Spanish) and Italian, i can say some words in Moroccan (the other half of my family is from there), and it turns out I have started to learn Korean!

So I love movies and tv shows (I am obsessed with kdramas specifically, my favourite ones are Moving, Goblin and more recently When the phone rings), I listen to music all the time and love to listen to all types of music (kpop, oriental, rock, indian...) !! I am also fond of reading, I absolutely love walking, and I enjoy doing sport (I play tennis, volleyball and dance, I love learning kpop choreographies and I did a lot of hip hop). And I am also very committed to feminism.

Few words about me: I am an INFP (a mediator), so what's great is that I am an empath, very creative, (but not very good with my hands sorry) but the counterpart is I am a people pleaser, so I expect this adventure to teach me how to say no! I am also very curious and eager to always learn and discover, i am an active listener so if you need to talk to someone, I am that someone! And mostly I laugh all the time, so if you need a confidence boost tell me a joke and I will laugh for sure!!

Although I have an engineering background (I have worked for 4 years in a healthcare company), I never truly felt connected with the professional path I chose. And I know that I have always enjoyed working and taking care of people (children mostly, be it with my family or during events such as dance representations), that is why I would love to get to live experiences to help people through learning, activities, and spend quality time with them.

I am so excited to start this new adventure! I am trying to find out what i really want in life, and I believe this journey in Vietnam and a fully experience through a workaway will help me understand new cultures and new ways of thinking, that will, I hope, allow me to better know myself and who I am.

I hope this helps, and please feel free to reach out to me to have more information!

I don't have a workaway experience yet, but I am very much looking forward to it.

    - I have worked for 4 years in a healthcare company: I was a product manager on a mobile application dedicated to nurses, so I was both managing several projects into the app, I was always in contact with our customers (customer service) to make sure they liked the app and were satisfied with it. I was also doing a lot of marketing (preparing communication plans through newsletters, notifications, ads), and also did digital marketing -> through this experience, I did a lot of tutorials and training sessions to help learning how to use the app! For example I organized a 6 week training around the theme Harry Potter to encourage them to use digital in their daily work (people had to create their Patronus and they had to do challenges)

    - I speak English fluently: I have worked with colleagues from all around the world (Vietnamese, Brazilian, Italian, German...) and I worked in English everyday.

    - I did some volunteering during my scolarity (preparing the logistics for a local theater and music festival)

    - I did babysitting (from children aged 3 to 7)

    - I taught mathematics to highschoolers

    - Regarding managing people, I was in charge of the activities during internal seminars: music selection (and blind tests/karaoke), sport activities, and mostly ensuring everyone had a good time!!

    - And on a more personal note, during every Christmas from 10 to 18 years old, I would recruit my cousins to create a show: I would invent new lyrics to songs and we would dance to them with created choreographies!

I have great emotional intelligence, I like working in teams, I am very curious, always eager to improve, and mostly always motivated, I don't like to give up!
