Had a really great time. This workaway is very much what you make of it. Cleaning tasks as standard, but there's the opportunity to do more if you'd like. Taro is such a lovely host, and it was nice to get to know other workawayers also.

Scarlett stayed with us from June 19 to July 28, 2026, and she was one of the most memorable and inspiring Workawayers we have hosted.

She is a writer, artist, and actress with a strong interest in independent film, theatre, creative communities, and DIY cultural spaces. From the beginning, she understood the atmosphere we were trying to create … read more here and brought her own unique energy, ideas, and initiative to the place.

One of Scarlett’s biggest contributions was organizing and promoting small cultural events. She planned a script reading gathering and a rooftop film screening event, and both turned out much better than I expected. More people came than we imagined, and the atmosphere was very warm, relaxed, and enjoyable. Some participants even told us that it was one of the best events they had attended in Osaka.

What impressed me most was that Scarlett did not wait for everything to be perfect before starting. She understood that, for community events, the most important thing is to create a good atmosphere, invite people, and make something actually happen. Many people spend too much time planning and never begin, but Scarlett took action. Because of that, she became the first Workawayer here who truly created her own event from the beginning.

She also gave me many useful ideas and suggestions for future gatherings and artist socials. Her experience with creative spaces, events, administration, copywriting, and social media was very helpful, and I learned a lot from the way she approached things.

Scarlett is kind, sociable, funny, and very easy to be around. She brought a relaxed and positive energy to the house, and people naturally enjoyed spending time with her. She also said something that stayed with me: that one of the most damaging things in a team is constant complaining, because it can hurt the atmosphere even if the person is capable. I think this was a very wise observation, and it showed her understanding of how important mood and trust are in a shared creative environment.

She may have her own rhythm and style, but she knows how to bring people together and create value through atmosphere, communication, and action. That is a rare and important skill.
