 - Description- Hi, I’m Sarah!
I’m from Minneapolis, Minnesota, and studied psychology in college. Since graduating, I’ve made it a priority to travel in between jobs—taking time to slow down, connect with new people, and experience different ways of living.
Most recently, I worked as a mental health practitioner in schools. After focusing so much on others in that role, I felt this was the right time to invest in myself and seek out new experiences.
I’m a creative, curious, and open person who finds joy in the little things ☀️. I enjoy gardening, painting, home projects, animal care, spirituality, and being outdoors. I’ve traveled through Workaway before in 2023, and I helped out on a farm, at a bed and breakfast, and worked on various house projects. It was such a meaningful experience, and I’m excited to do more.
I’m open to all kinds of Workaway experiences, especially those involving nature, creativity, cultural exchange, and community. I’m happy to help wherever I can and always excited to learn something new :)
 Looking forward to meeting you!

 - Languages- Languages spoken
English: Fluent- More details about my language interests
I'd really like to learn Spanish! I have been doing Duolingo, but I know it's not the same as actually engaging in Spanish conversations with others. I think practicing the language with others practicing or who know the language could really aid in my understanding.
 - Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn- I'm interested in:- Charity Work - Being an elderly companion - Creating/ Cooking family meals - Eco Projects - Languages - Some knowledge of:- Art Projects - Gardening - Animal Care - Life at a Farmstay - Helping around the house - General Maintenance - DIY and building projects - Able to teach about:- Babysitting and creative play
 - More details about your skills- The two different paths I've worked in been related to psychology or gardening/landscaping. I graduated with a degree in psychology and have worked in childcare for around 5 years. Because of this, I believe I have developed skills in working well with others and being able to adapt to different environments and duties. Although my background in psychology may not directly correlate with the work I will be doing, I do think it will help me get along well with others and adapt to new situations.
My other area of work experience has been in gardening and landscaping. My first job was at a cemetery where I would tend the gardens through watering, weeding, and trimming. Oddly, I found working at the cemetery to be my favorite job and stayed there for around 5 summers. I tend to be a "thinker" and "feeler", so being able to channel my energy into work with my hands has been something deeply therapeutic and enjoyable. Currently, I am working as an exterior landscaper where I do similar work, but now am more versed in planting, mulching, and growing greater attention to detail.
Although psychology-related jobs and gardening/landscaping have been my two greater areas of experience, I am very open to new tasks and duties. As I've just graduated, I am trying to keep an open mind to what potential career paths I can take. So, I intend on keeping an open mind to whatever needs my host may have – maybe I'll find a new passion and potential path for my life!
