Description

Sam: I love doing anything out of the ordinary, gaining new experiences of different cultures and making amazing stories. In my day job, I am a physics researcher at a university, with a strong skillset in mathematics and computing. Outside of work, I love any form of physical activity. I do gymnastics, dance, skating, snowboarding and enjoy anything extreme sports related. I actually have a qualification in teaching parkour and acrobatics and used to run classes for both kids and adults.

Marie: I am excited by the opportunity of meeting new people and supporting others where I can. I am a Genetic Counsellor, so see patients who have a family history of genetic-related conditions. I got into this role as I enjoy connecting with other people and providing support, and I am also fascinated by science. Previously, I worked as a teaching assistant, particularly helping 6-7 year olds with additional needs and really enjoyed passing on my knowledge and helping kids build confidence.
I recently took a career break to travel for 6 months, where I realised how rich life could be when you allow yourself to try things out of your confort zone. I did two Workaways during that time. Despite all the other amazing things I got to do and see, the Workaways were the most rewarding part of my travel experience as I got to meet amazing people to share experiences with, which brought out parts of me I didnt even know existed.

As a couple, we have a shared curious outlook and a playful approach to life. Both of our jobs are office-based, so we're looking for a chance to do something outside our comfort zone, whether that involves building and working with our hands, teaching, or getting involved with the local community. We love taking on challenges and learning new skills, so look forward to all the exciting opportunities your workaway has to offer.
