  • Description

We are looking for adventure in nature and a way to 'give something back'.
Our ideal experience would be within a friendly community or family preparing and sharing good food & conversation with hard work & exercise in nature.
We both have a deep connection with Scotland (we were married at Glen Finnan) and have spent many fabulous holidays exploring the highlands and Islands. Our first workaway was last year where we spent 2 weeks on the Isle of Rum & honestly, it was such a life affirming experience that we want to keep doing it at least once a year!
Janet's passion is gardening & food (she has professional experience in both), she would love to learn more about permaculture and to extend her food knowledge. Rob's love is photography, which he taught in schools for many years. He is also keen on DIY and decorating and has professional experience in tree felling and basic woodworking.
We both have skills and experience in preparing a holiday let as we have our own successful holiday let business..... www.airbnb.com/h/whashtonstudio

    Rob
My main career was Head of Art, specialising in photography, which I did for over 30 years. On retiring, I set up my own business running courses and photographing weddings (robclipshamphotography.com). I still do the odd assignment, but my main passion right now is photographing wildlife. In 2017 I built a 2 person bird hide in the forest near our village, it has proved to be a huge benefit for our community and a great talking point in the village. I am also responsible for the cutting and maintenance of our village green and I work for Janet’s gardening firm as their mowing contractor. Prior to teaching I was a tree feller in Sherwood Forest and I still do small-scale timber operations. I enjoy painting and decorating and have worked on numerous projects for my extended family.
    Janet
My background is in food; I worked for the vegetarian/vegan company Quorn & Cauldron foods for the majority of my career as a food technologist, then a sensory scientist. In 2021 I took semi - retirement to become a gardener for my best friend. I work in many different gardens, (including an organic kitchen garden) all over Richmond and the Yorkshire Dales.
To enable the drop in salary and to provide another income to get me through the winter season, we converted Rob’s photographic studio into a holiday let. It has been a huge success and paid for itself within the 1st year. I am responsible for the online communication and management, Rob is the meet and greet expert and cleaner!
I also enjoy painting and decorating and am happy to turn my hand to almost anything!
