We're traveling through Latin America and are excited to explore step by step. We enjoy being outdoors and feel most at home in nature, whether it’s hiking, surfing, diving, or simply working outside.

Description

We’re Johanna and Raban, a couple from Germany who decided to quit their nine to five jobs and travel the world instead.

During our journey, we’re looking for places where we can actively contribute, learn from local perspectives, and become part of everyday life for a while. We value cultural exchange, shared experiences, and projects that bring people together.

Johanna has a professional background in social work and several years of experience supporting young adults in assisted living. She enjoys working with people and creating supportive environments. Through her work with an NGO in Nepal, she gained experience in teaching English, supporting women in developing small businesses, and helping assess community needs.

Raban studied and worked in computer science and engineering, including research projects in the healthcare sector. Alongside his academic background, he has practical skills in building and renovation tasks such as carpentry, basic electrical work, and general repairs. He enjoys solving practical problems and working with his hands.

Together, we bring a mix of social awareness, practical skills and reliability. We value teamwork and a good working atmosphere, but we also like to work independently.

Through our professional backgrounds and previous experiences, we’ve developed skills in many different areas.

Johanna enjoys working with people of all ages, organizing activities, supporting learning processes and adapting to different needs. Her background in social work has taught her responsibility and how to stay solution-oriented even in chaotic and challenging situations.

Raban is confident with tools and hands-on tasks. Whether it’s small renovation projects, basic repairs or technical questions, he enjoys finding practical solutions. His technical background also allows him to support with digital tasks if needed.

In addition to that, both of us have several years of experience in hospitality. We have worked in restaurants and cafés in service and in the kitchen, as well as in housekeeping and catering. We are used to working in fast-paced environments, keeping spaces clean and organized, and enjoy interacting with guests.

We are physically fit, comfortable working outdoors and not afraid of long or demanding days when needed. At the same time, we are curious and creative and enjoy projects where we can learn something new, whether that’s gardening, building, or trying out artistic ideas.

We would describe ourselves as open-minded, adaptable and reliable. We take commitments seriously and appreciate clear communication. At the same time, we enjoy meaningful conversations, outdoor adventures and creative ideas.

Growing up in the countryside, we’re used to practical tasks and physical work. We appreciate simple living, adapting to new environments, and becoming part of local communities rather than just passing through.

For us, a good volunteering experience means mutual exchange, contributing our skills and learning new ones. We’re looking forward to becoming part of a project where we can support in a practical way while also sharing experiences and perspectives.
