  • Description

    Hello there!

    Who we are:
I am Peter (M27), I am British/Irish and doing a WHV with my wonderful girlfriend Hina (Female, 29, Japanese).
We are looking to help out in return for accommodation and food. We have no allergies or restrictions.
We are both super chill, calm, reserved but still social and love exchanging cultures and interesting conversations.
Willing to give anything and everything a go, especially areas we don't have experience in and can learn from you - maybe we can teach you things too!
We are not typical party backpackers, we are mostly looking for cultural exchange, work and gain new skills and life perspectives. A challenge more than a relaxing holiday!

We have been doing a Helpx in far north Queensland so we have experience with farm stuff such as mulching, planting, whipper snippering, wood cutting, various power tools, living remotely, fishing, potting, construction , house keeping, pruning, car fixing, etc.

    What are we looking for?
Currently we're especially interested in reef related experiences and hopefully boat trips to fish and see crocodiles as we've been in Darwin and FNQ for 4 months and not seen any yet.
Hosts of any nationality, age, orientation, family size, solo - doesn't matter.
Hosts that preferably want to have interesting exchanges and some help rather than slave drivers.
Hosts that are open and willing to teach us interesting things and local stuff about Australia (not looking for a free tour guide don't worry).
Wanting to learn new skills, willing to put the hours in and quick learners. Basically want to try out the "go outside and chop wood" philosophy.

    Extra information:
My hobbies are cooking, coffee, calisthenics, chatting, League of Legends, hiking, learning/self improvement.
My vibe: Dry, witty, dark humour, polite, reserved, intellectual, quick learner

Hina's hobbies: cultural exchange, learning about the world, stretching, enjoying nice food, peaceful parks, walking
Hina's vibe: Chill, whimsical, eccentric, calm, curious

    Other important information:
We're fine with animals and pets.
    We don't have a car.

I have a master's degree in AI/ML, BSc. Economics and Maths. I have worked mostly in supermarkets shopfloor/checkouts. My GF Hina has worked mostly hospitality jobs like a waitress in a hotel in Ireland, Japanese restaurant in Germany, etc. I used to do gardening as a hobby, huge into coffee and have specialty coffee barista cert. I used to volunteer in Scouting Ireland - after 12+ years in the scouts myself. Enjoy cooking but by no means amazing at it (I'm British after all).
