Description
Hello! I am an active, retired woman who enjoys travel, outdoor life, caring for animals, gardening, cooking, learning languages and meeting people from around the world. I have travelled extensively over the years. My favorite places have been France, New Zealand, southern Chile and east Africa. For 20 years I owned and operated my own wilderness outfitting business taking hikers on camping trips using llamas as pack animals. Prior to that I worked as a travel agent and along the way I have had jobs in accountancy and retail sales. These days I enjoy summer where I live in northeast Oregon, volunteering for our Cultural Arts Center as well as our Natural History Discovery Center. I like to travel during the snow and ice times here and looking forward to traveling to Africa this coming December through March.

I have over 30 years experience caring for animals, general maintenance and gardening on my own farm. In addition I have worked as an accountant, done marketing for my own business, and a bit of graphic design and web promotion. I have experience writing and editing - I even authored a book on llama training and care. Several times a week I help out at our local arts and culture center as well as our Natural History Discovery Center --- greeting visitors, helping with exhibits, handling merchandise sales and just doing whatever other tasky things need doing. My hobbies are hand building ceramics - I made all my own tiles for my kitchen remodel a few years ago; I spin and knit wool from the llamas I raised; and I tend a small raised-bed garden growing whatever our short season climate will allow. From my years as an outfitter I have lots of experience cooking for groups of people on expeditions and at summer camps. I am skilled with a paintbrush, a rake, a shovel and with all sorts of DIY projects. I have a modicum of veterinary experience and good skills in caring for large and small animals. In 2019 I spent time working with various wildlife species at a Namibian sanctuary and rehabilitation center. I'm pretty good with a computer, especially Mac OS.
