Description
Hi lovely hosts and fellow travellers! I’m Áine, I’m 28 and I’m from Ireland. I’ve been slow travelling through Colombia with my partner since February and will soon be travelling solo in Peru when he heads back to work.
I’ve always loved travel and volunteering. I spent two years solo travelling with Workaway through Europe, Australia and Southeast Asia. Here's a brief overview of some projects I’ve volunteered with:
-English tours at coffee farm (Colombia)
-decorating and kids parties at arts and crafts workshop (England)
-teaching children English as well as other subjects like music and art (Bulgaria, England, Thailand, Vietnam)
-hospitality at a hostel, a Buddhist centre, and a surf camp (Thailand, Austria, Philippines)
-teaching English to adults (Vietnam, Philippines)
-tours and farm work at eco-farm (Italy)
At home in Dublin I work with an NGO. I’ve also spent time teaching English (I have a TEFL cert) and working as an au pair in Spain.
I’m happiest when I’m outdoors and spending time in nature, hiking, swimming, scuba diving, and rock climbing especially! I love meeting new people, hearing their stories, and learning about different ways of life.
Having spent long periods travelling solo, I’m very comfortable adapting to new environments, living with all kinds of people, and being flexible and open minded. For me, the best part of travelling is getting out of my comfort zone, learning as I go, and becoming part of new communities.

I lived in Spain for a while and I'm fluent in Spanish. I'd love to improve my Spanish and get more comfortable speaking. I'm a native English speaker. Always happy to do some English conversations/lessons. I spent about two years working as an English teacher for non-native speakers and has a Cambridge TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Certificate for this.

More details about your skills
Between us, we have a good mix of skills and life experience:
Cahil is very handy and has experience of DIY tasks like painting, general home repairs, flooring, basic plumbing and electrical. He learns quickly and he’s happiest when he's learning new manual skills and doing physical work. He’s always willing to drive too!
Aine has lots of experience teaching English in Dublin, Spain and around the world (she has a Cambridge TEFL certificate). She has experience of farm work, hospitality and child care from previous workaways. She's always happy doing creative tasks, helping with social media posts and applications, and working with children.
We're both happy to try new things and get our hands dirty!

She is self-sufficient and very quickly got on with the whole group.
We would welcome her back anytime :) Thank you so much for all your help!
Living in a house with the other volunteers is really special. There is always a multinational group of volunteers from very different backgrounds. Living together allows you to get to know everyone really well, learn a lot from each other, and share so many wonderful… read more
