When travelling, I am most interested in visiting cultural monuments, museums and natural landmarks. I love literature, art, and history. I enjoy getting to know new places by walking and even getting lost in unknown cities.
I've done 2 Workaways so far and enjoyed them thoroughly, so am looking for new experiences.

More details about my language interests
I have been learning languages since I was a kid and have always felt that each language enriches me deeply, serving as a bridge into a new culture. Russian and Georgian are my mother tongues, I am also fluent in English and Spanish, as well as have basic knowledge of German and Portuguese. Before my trip to Morocco I learnt some basic Darija but must admit I've lost most of it by now. Would love to pick up learning Arabic and am always fond of interesting linguistic facts. Besides that, I have experience in teaching English and Spanish to Russian speakers and Russian to Spanish speakers.

I had a (to my great pity) short but very memorable stay with Noemi, Willi, Daniele, and their most adorable animals! They picked me up on their car from Schaffhausen, took the best care of me during the stay and dropped me off back in Schaffhausen when I had to leave.

The farm is located in a 10-15min ride from Schaffhausen and Beringen, on top… read more of a very picturesque hill, with little light pollution (which makes the place perfect for stargazing), a lot of different shades of green, varied birds (thankfully Noemi pointed out some species to me), as well as many deer. It is close to some other farms so you can walk around and see more animas, 2 observation decks with beautiful views, and various hiking/cycling trails. Their house has all the amenities, was very warm thanks to the stove, hot shower, all the blankets I was kindly provided with, and the animals you can cuddle with 😊

The work was somewhat physically challenging but also very therapeutic if you come from a city and an office job. And thanks to the breaks we could take, in the end it mainly felt like a healthy workout in the fresh air. We would get up from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. depending on the weather and day (later on the weekends), feed the animals (cats, bunnies, and hens), egg hunt, and get to work in the garden. While I was there, we prepared the ground for and planted potatoes and onions, but they also grow garlic, pumpkins, tomatoes, broccoli, cabbages, and many other things. We did prepare tomatoes to be later planted in the garden, as well as cleaned up the territory with the flowers right next to the house. I didn’t know anything about gardening upon my arrival, so the hosts showed me how to do everything and taught me some very useful gardening tricks. And well, anything that had to do with the animals was just a pleasure, even mending a hole dug by the rabbits and catching some fugitives :)

The afternoons were for resting after work (they have a hammock outside and warm stove to sit on inside!), seeing the sights and hiking around the farm. Noemi took me on a brief bike ride to show me around the area, as well as taught (or at least tried to teach) me how to operate a Weidling, a traditional wooden boat in Schaffhausen. Also she and Willi took me to see the Rheinfall (Rhine Falls) on a boat trip with Willi’s dad. In the evenings we would stay in, play cards, and play with the kittens they have, in other words have the wholesome-st of time <3

Usually we would have breakfast (including fresh eggs, and a wide variety of teas, cheeses, and bread) and dinner (usually cooked by Willi and including wild mushrooms and pesto from the plants gathered by Daniele) together. And I was allowed to grab anything in the kitchen to have lunch and snack on.

I enjoyed every bit of my stay, am incredibly thankful to Noemi, Willi, and Daniele for being the amazing hosts they are, and hope to come back to gather the crops and see the kittens all grown up.

The best Workaway experience you could hope for. I would never believe that I could feel so at home in a different country as I did at Casa Redouane. He's literally the best host who as soon as you arrive will make you feel like you are a part of his big international family.

The story of this eco village is super inspiring and makes you want to… read more do as much as possible to be a part of its history. The place is filled with the most positive energy due to Redouane's eternal optimism and it is no surprise that it has become second home to so many like-minded people from all over the world.

The work the other workawayers and I did didn't require any special skills, as we helped with cleaning the house, did some gardening and my personal favourite: made mud bricks used for building the house. All this was done with a lot of music and fun during the mornings. After that we could have some rest, stroll around the beautiful village (with dozens of children surrounding you once you leave the doorstep), visit other villages and interesting sights in the area, read, sleep, and do whatever your heart desires.

We shared all the meals (most amazing local dishes prepared by Redouane), played cards in the evening (make sure to bring some board games when you come here, they will make the evenings even more fun), watched films, played music, and just talked about everything - in other words, spent evenings like a true family.

Speaking English, Spanish, and German (on top of Darija, Standard Arabic, and French of course), Redouane is a very interesting and open person, so meeting him has been a great honour and inspired me to re-think many things and try to live the best life I can.

Besides, Redouane organised a 2-day trip to desert for us, allowing us to listen to Gnawa music, see a fossil museum, ride camels, sandboard, see the most starry night you can imagine, and experience so much more.

It is crazy how sad I am to leave this place and how much I would like to come back here for a longer period. This was my first Workaway experience, my first time travelling alone, first time in Africa - and it all went great thanks to Redouane and his eagerness to bring more people to his home village and Morocco overall. I'm sure a great future lies ahead for Casa Redouane and his family, and I can't wait to see it for myself when (not if!) I come back.
