Description
Hi there!
We’re Sophie (18) and Nathalie (19) from Switzerland. After finishing school this summer, we decided to take a gap year before hopefully studying veterinary medicine next year. Instead of spending more time in classrooms, we want to get out, see the world, and gain new experiences.
As part of our school program, we volunteered on a donkey farm in the countryside, with many donkeys, mules, cats, dogs and ponies. Since then, we’ve been back several times to help out with daily tasks like mucking out stables, feeding and caring for the animals, and guiding donkey trekking tours for tourists.
We’re both motivated to learn, we enjoy being outdoors and working with animals. Through Workaway, we hope to spend more time with animals, contribute in a meaningful way, and also improve our skills like animal care or gardening. And of course, we’re excited to explore more of Europe and meet new people along the way!

More details about your skills
For the past four years, we have spent most of our holidays on the donkey farm, where we have helped with all kinds of tasks that have come up. This includes, for example, cleaning out the stables every day, looking after the animals (donkeys, ponies, mules, dogs, cats), grooming them and walking them ourselves or with tourists.
At home, we both like to growing some of our own fruit and vegetables. We have basic cooking and baking skills, but nothing too advanced.
