Description

I'm Mike, 25, from Bari in southern Italy. I just came back after five years living and working in Switzerland, and now I'm looking to travel differently — staying in one place long enough to actually be useful, rather than passing through.

I'm a cook with a hospitality diploma and five years of professional kitchen experience. Cooking for a group is genuinely one of my favourite things — give me a kitchen and people to feed and I'm happy. I speak Italian, French and English, and I understand some Spanish, so I can usually help out with guests from most places.

I train Jiu-Jitsu and I'm used to physical work — early starts, long days on my feet, carrying things up hills. None of that puts me off. I also love animals and I'm comfortable around them.

What makes me happy: being by the sea (I'm currently working towards my Divemaster certification), mountains, being part of a team where everyone knows what they're doing and just gets on with it. I'm easy to live with and I like people who are curious about things.

I'm available immediately and flexible on dates and tasks. If you're short-handed and need someone who can cook, work hard and get on with the guests, I'm your guy

Cooking — hospitality diploma + 5 years in professional kitchens in Switzerland. Cooking for large groups, prep, service, working to a timetable. Italian cooking is my strongest area, but I adapt to whatever ingredients are available. Happy cooking daily meals for a team, not just restaurant-style food.

Hospitality — 5 years in bars, restaurants and hotels. Table service, bar work, front of house, looking after guests.

Languages — Italian (native), French (fluent, 5 years in Switzerland), English, basic Spanish.

Physical work — Early starts, lifting, carrying, gardening, painting, cleaning, general maintenance. I keep the same pace all day.

Water — working towards my Divemaster certification. Strong swimmer, comfortable in and around the sea.

Animals — comfortable with dogs, cats and farm animals. Feeding, walking, cleaning, looking after them.

Also — driving licence, practical, quick to learn a job by watching it once, reliable with time. If I don't know how to do something I'll say so and then learn it.
