Hello!

My name is Mel, and I am a Dutch Canadian. I speak both English and Dutch fluently.

I enjoy being outside and working with animals, especially horses and cattle. I love learning about and working with all sorts of both wild and farm animals. I was born and raised on a hog farm, and participated in 4H. I graduated from an agriculture college (Beef major) and am currently continuing my education. I would love to learn about how different farms/ranches operate throughout Canada and the world.
Some of my hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, horseback riding and woodworking.
I love learning about other people's lifestyles, and would love to give others a glimpse of mine!

In the summer of 2023, I spent 4 months travelling Canada, from BC to Quebec, doing workaway farmstays and living in my car. I enjoyed seeing more of the country I grew up in.

I spent October 2025- March 2026 travelling across Europe. I visited 11 countries, hostelling and doing workaway farmstays. I enjoyed my time backpacking and am excited to return to Europe again in the future!

I stayed here last December for a couple of weeks, and it was a great experience. Elke is very kind and welcoming. The work and expectations were very clear and very fair.
