This summer I'm back home in France.

Description

What motivates me is meeting and connecting with others, especially across cultures. I love these experiences that allow me to explore, try new things, contribute in a meaningful way and learn from different people and environments, overall helping me grow as a person.

I am studying in Canada to become an elementary teacher, and working with children has always brought me joy. I had several experiences working with them through various internships in elementary classes, daycares and as a summer camp counsellor. I love creating a space in which kids feel safe, seen and empowered to express themselves, while also being able to stay active, express their creativity and for them to have their fun.

Some hobbies that make me happy include:
- Sports: I have done a variety of sports from gymnastic to surf, but I love most the ones that are played in a team, such as volleyball or basketball;
- Drama; I have played in two musicals in high school, and took a few acting/improvisation classes for my personal pleasure;
- Taking care of myself: I’m not sure how I could to call it, but taking time for myself doing what I consider simple things such as listening to music, drawing, walking, dancing, etc;
- Volunteering experiences: actively participating in 2 fashion shows events for charity, organizing and managing donations for an animal shelter, and this September 2025, I will work with the organism Pour un Sourire d’Enfant (PSE) in a camp for defavorise children in Cambodia.

Overall, for me happiness comes from simple human moments: sharing a good laugh, the satisfaction of a team working well together, feeling part of a project, having a good conversation at the dining table… That’s what I seek in Workaway, mutual enrichment, cultural exchange, and shared values of respect, kindness, curiosity, and community spirit.

As told previously I had a few experiences working with children in both educational and recreational settings. Since 2021 up until today, I have done various practicums in elementary classes. The most recent practicum I had (Feb-Apr 2025) was in a grade 3 classroom during which I was managing the class (creating and teaching my own lessons, leading class routines, etc), for about 50% of the time, the other 50% were taught by my mentor, the ‘actual’ teacher. I forged strong bonds with the students, and we even organized a video-call a few months after I left to share news.

In a more recreational setting, I have also worked in a daycare (40 children, 4-6 years old), and as a summer camp counsellor in a surf-themed camp (80 children, 6-14 years old). As a counselor, my role was to organize games, plan and follow children during their day (activities, surf lessons, meals, hygiene, sleeping time, etc…). Basically to ensure children were safe physically, mentally and emotionally, while having a great time! This summer 2025, I am doing more summer camps with the same role but different themes: the first one is about horse riding, and the second one is Harry Potter themed (I’ll be creating and playing a character for my magic lessons!).

These experiences developed my group collaboration, flexibility, creativity, empathy, and interpersonal skills.

In addition, I’ve worked in hospitality as a hostess and waitress during summers, which further strengthened my teamwork, communication, patience, and stress management skills.

Other skills that I find useful and applicable in Workaway are my open-mindness, inclusivity, adaptability and fluency in both English and French language. Indeed, I was born in France and lived in various French cities as well as in foreign countries: Hong Kong, Italy, and now studying in Canada.

Whether in a classroom, camp, or group setting, I love being around people and contributing positively to group dynamics. I am a positive and cheerful person who is eager to start the WorkAwayer adventure and discover more about the world !
