Hello! My name is Alexander, I’m 26 years old and I’m from Moldova.
For the past few years I’ve been working on a computer, but at some point I realized I wanted to take a break, see the world and experience a different kind of life — closer to nature, people and real hands-on work. That’s why I decided to try Workaway.
My background is a bit unusual. I have a university degree in economics, but I also studied to become a lathe operator. To be honest, I enjoy working with my hands even more. I like understanding how things work and learning practical skills.
I’m a calm and responsible person, I learn quickly and I try to do every job carefully and properly. I’m not afraid of physical work — in fact I enjoy the feeling of a good tiredness after a productive day outdoors.
I enjoy simple things: nature, animals, new places and meaningful conversations with people from different cultures. At home I have a cat that I love very much, so I usually get along well with animals.
I also enjoy sports and try to stay physically active.
For me Workaway is not only about travelling. It’s about experiencing a different way of life and learning from people and places along the way.

More details about my language interests
I enjoy learning languages and communicating with people from different countries. Right now I would like to improve my English and become more confident in speaking. I believe the best way to learn a language is through real life communication and everyday interaction, which is one of the reasons I like the idea of Workaway. I am also open to learning other languages. I enjoy discovering new cultures, so I would be happy to learn at least some of the local language of the country where I stay. I believe language is one of the best ways to understand people and culture.

I am a person who enjoys working with my hands and I’m not afraid of physical work.
My main education is in economics. After a cadet school I spent some time studying at a military institute, and later I graduated from the faculty of economics. However, after some time I realized that it is important for me to be able to create and fix things with my own hands. That is why I later decided to learn machining and trained as a lathe operator to understand how things are made and how to work with metal and tools.
I am used to discipline and work. I feel comfortable with physical tasks and I’m not afraid of work like digging, cutting wood, carrying heavy things, painting, or helping with general maintenance. I understand many basic manual tasks and I learn new skills quickly if someone shows me how something is done.
I stay in good physical shape and regularly do sports, so active work is not a problem for me.
I also really like animals. I have a cat that I love very much, so I feel comfortable taking care of animals or helping around them.
In general, I am a curious person who enjoys learning new things, trying different kinds of work and being useful.

In my free time I like to stay active and keep myself in good physical shape. I enjoy going to the gym, cycling and spending time outdoors.
I also enjoy exploring new places. I like mountains, walking in nature and generally anything connected with travel and small adventures.
I like reading books, especially the ones that make you think or give a different perspective on life.
Sometimes I play board games — I enjoy simple activities that bring people together and create good conversations.
I also like vintage things. Old objects often have their own story and atmosphere.
In general I enjoy simple life, interesting conversations, learning new things and discovering the world a little deeper.
