Hi! My name is Maija, and I, as I assume most people on here, love to travel and learn about different cultures. I'm from Finland, with Swedish as my mother tounge, and I speak Finnish and English pretty much fluently.

My perfect workaway experience would be working with animals in a more rural area, as I love animals and the countryside. I have been riding and working with horses since I was nine, so that's ten years at this point. I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty and I like to keep busy! As a person I am calm, but I am also adventurous and like to take on new challenges.

For me, animal welfare is extremely important. Currently I'm looking for a job involving horses, and since the way animals are treated is so important to me, I like to to my own research (if possible) before I feel comfortable contacting you. So if I choose to contact you, you can feel safe in knowing that I have put a lot of thought in my decision.

I am a person who takes the initiative to do things that need to be done. I am a fast learner and an optimistic and very curious person. I'm good with kids and animals, and I'm not afraid to roll up my sleeves and get de job done.

Ever since I was nine years old I have been voluntarily helping out at different stables. I am an exeprienced rider- I ride everyting from sleepy riding school ponies to "crazy" young horses- but I usually say I'm an even more exeprienced stable girl. Pretty much whatever yard work you have, I'll get it done.

I'm very confident in my English, and since I speak Swedish (and Finnish), I tend to understand Norwegian and Danish pretty well. So if the job involves dealing with tourists, that can be of help. I also have experience working in customer service.

In my free time you will probably catch me reading a book or listening to music, If I'm not at the stables cuddling with all the animals, that is :)

I have just graduated Finnish upper secodary school, which means I'm currently waiting to see if I get in to university, exciting!
