Description
🌍 About Me
Kia Ora! I’m Mahé, a 23 year old from France, currently exploring New Zealand on a Working Holiday Visa.
I recently graduated with my Master's degree back home. Before settling down in Paris, I decided to take some time to travel the world, connect with new people and culture, and experience different ways of life!
I’m an easy-going, positive, and outgoing person who loves being outdoors. I’m also a huge music fan (I listen to a lot of indie rock, soul, and electro) and I love a good chat over a coffee or a shared meal.
My goal for this trip is to travel slowly, meet locals, and experience the authentic Kiwi lifestyle rather than just rushing through the tourist spots.
💪 I'm an active and sporty person, tennis and handball are my two favourite sports (not sure handball is much of a thing here in NZ though!), and whether it's hiking, cycling, or just staying on the move, I'm always up for something physical.
I'm hardworking, reliable, and always eager to roll up my sleeves and get stuck in. I may not have experience in everything, but I'm a fast learner with a positive attitude, and I truly enjoy picking up new skills along the way!
I'm happy to help with all kinds of tasks, including:
Gardening & Outdoor work: Weeding, planting, mowing, or general property upkeep.
Farm work: Feeding animals, maintaining land, or helping with whatever the season calls for.
DIY & Maintenance: Basic repairs, painting, building, I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty.
General Help: Whatever needs doing, I'm adaptable and always willing to contribute.
If there's something I haven't done before, just show me once and I'll take it from there!
🤝 Why I want to do Workaway
I strongly believe that the best way to discover a country is through its people. I want to do Workaway to give back to the community, share stories and cultures, and build genuine connections with my hosts.
I'm looking forward to working hard during the day and sharing good laughs, good vibes, and maybe some music in the evenings.
See you!

More details about your skills
My most relevant experience for Workaway is probably the summers I spent as a camp leader for groups of kids and teenagers in France, organising activities, managing daily logistics, keeping energy high, and making sure everyone felt welcome and included. It taught me a lot about responsibility, adaptability, and working as a team in a live-in environment, which I think translates really well to the Workaway spirit.
I also worked as a waiter in a seasonal restaurant, so I'm comfortable in a fast-paced hospitality setting, taking orders, serving, keeping things running smoothly, and staying friendly even on busy days.
Beyond that, I hold a BAFA (the French national youth work qualification), which involved first aid basics, group facilitation, and activity planning.
I'm also an active volunteer with an ocean protection association in Brittany, so environmental work and outdoor conservation projects are close to my heart.
On a more practical level, I'm organised, reliable, and used to taking initiative. I pick up new tasks quickly and I'm genuinely happy doing whatever needs doing, whether that's in a kitchen, a garden, or out on a farm. -
