Description
Hi we are on a working holiday visa for a year in japan, ready to mix and learn from locals as well as spread our Aussie traditions.
One day we may buy a house and on the way take inspiration of how others are living with the land and creating community.
We were struggling to be our full creative selves in Sydney with the exuberant prices of houses, lifestyles and having work balance and removing cars from daily living.
This is our step away from consumerism and finding people and places that we can connect with easier. -

More details about your skills
Togi - I graduated as a mechanical engineer and have gone into the lighting and curtain industries. At first, it was in large warehouses producing thousands of products but that didn't line up with my waste not views as it was mainly helping to create more plastic. I have lots of hands on experience on machinery making the lighting fixtures and wiring them up using CNC, drills, lathe, grinders, spray booths, soldering, sanding + more. I can also design on computer with most 3D drawings tools like SolidWorks.
On the side I enjoy playing piano, gardening, sewing, haircuts for friends, experimenting with new biomaterials like mycelium and bioplastics from agar agar, eggshells, cornstarch, glycerin to create new lamp shades,
Will has been working in the coffee industry for over 10 years and knows almost every step and detail that goes from growing, transporting, quality control, roasting, packing, serving and responsibly discarding coffee. His main expertise is the logistics of balancing last minute orders and making sure enough is roasted in a short 1 week gap. If he didn't order the right thing, the customer will know and there would be angry cafe owners...but that happend almost never :D
On the side, he works on his motorbike, making our furniture like wooden shelves, bed frame, table. -

What else ...
We love card games which we bring to friends often, backgammon, video games (Togi is great at Mario Kart), teaching and learning new ones.
But what we like more than learning games is constantly learning new practical skills to improve everyday living like carpentry, robotics, electricals, repairing, composting, permaculture, solar power, heat pumps...happy to get on the tools...if you know weaving we'd love to.
Sleeping - we sleep quite well, minimal snoring from both of us, happy on a futon with fresh air and a high pillow.
We love using slippers inside, having a hot pot of tea around and cooking Italian, Japanese, Indian fusions all from scratch and with as many veggies and pickles as possible. We eat just about anything and would be very excited if you hunt so we can help.
Japan has peaked our interest for the natural beauty and kindness of people. Spending a year lets us experience the best of every season and feel it fully. -
