Description
Hi there!
I'm Laurie, a French woman with a passion for traveling, discovering new cultures, and exploring stunning landscapes.
My first adventure abroad was as an au pair in England for nine months. It was my first time flying and stepping out of my country—alone! Luckily, I had a safety net: a host family and a cozy place to stay.
But my biggest adventure came three years ago when I traveled solo for a year across North and South America (the US, Canada, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil). Organizing everything by myself, meeting amazing people along the way, and embracing the freedom of solo travel was truly life-changing. I believe I connected with more people than I would have if I’d had a travel companion!
I’m always eager to learn something new (I don’t think a day goes by without it), so I’d be delighted to help you while picking up new skills.
Nature is my happy place —hiking is one of my favorite hobbies. There’s nothing like reaching a breathtaking view after a good climb. The journey makes it even more rewarding!
Academically, I have a Bachelor’s degree in Languages (English and Spanish) and a Master’s degree in International Tourism Management. Through my travels, I’ve fallen in love with slow travel. It’s such a fulfilling way to explore, and it aligns with my environmental values. For instance, I’ve planned my trip to Ireland entirely via buses and ferries, avoiding planes as much as possible.
Speaking of values, I’m a vegetarian for environmental reasons, but no worries —I fully respect everyone’s choices and will never judge. 🙂
I’m so excited to meet you, exchange stories, and create wonderful memories together!
Cheers,
LaurieInterests

I have a Masters Degree in International Tourism Management and have developed strong organisational skills through my travels and studies. I know how to create memorable experiences for guests and am always happy to contribute to projects related to travel, tourism or guest services.
I also worked as a bilingual guide (French and English) in a castle during a summer job.

I'm passionate about vegetarian cooking and enjoy experimenting with sustainable batch cooking techniques. I'm happy to help with meal preparation, especially if you're curious about eco-friendly or plant-based dishes!
- DIY and minimalist organisation
I have an eye for creating harmonious and functional spaces inspired by minimalist principles. Whether it's organising or helping with creative projects, I'm happy to help.
- Physical tasks and working outdoors
As a nature lover and avid hiker, I'm not afraid to roll up my sleeves and help out in the garden!
- Animals
Animals in general are the best! I would love to walk with your dog(s), take care of your cat(s), your horse(s), sheep(s) or even bees!
- Positive energy and adaptability
My solo travels have taught me resilience, adaptability and how to work well with others. I thrive in a collaborative environment and am always willing to learn new skills on the road.

It was a pleasure to host her!
I spent two weeks at her place, in the company of another workawayer, Nora, and I've never seen the time go by.
As for her animals, it was heartbreaking to leave them in the end.

I was able to discover rural Irish life for my very first workaway. When I wasn't working (simple tasks like cleaning the house, ironing, cooking, tidying up...), I visited Kilkenny whenever Majella had an errand to run there. She even invited me to watch a horse race in Gowran. A… read more
