I spent almost 3 months at Mutlu' and Helena's, and I don't even know where I should start to describe my experience. I can say right away that this was much more than a workaway and a connection far beyond a host-volunteer exchange, we became very good friends.

Helena is the nicest and the most generous person I've ever met, very positive no matter what challenges life comes up with. I truly admire her and learnt a lot from her. Helena, I want to be like you when I grow up🥰 Mutlu is simply a cool guy, very charismatic and he has many stories about his adventurous life, we shared a lot of good laughs during mealtimes. Oh, Mutlu's cooking is another cherry on the cake, needless to say this, I guess every workawayer mentioned that. Mutlu I will miss this so much, I hope I cook better as I tried to learn from you too. I also would like to thank Mutlu's parents who came to visit, for beautiful Turkish food and their warm attitude towards me.I could talk endlessly about the hosts, but I need to tell people also about the project and the place. In a nutshell, Helena and Mutlu are very strong and resilient people, despite all the odds they stay so positive and try to offer everybody who comes to their place the best possible experience.
Their property is absolutely stunning and no doubt will get better and better. Everything about it is just so beautiful, so aesthetic, so cosy, every detail is thoroughly thought through. I had a lovely room (several, in fact) with my own bathroom. All the rooms are very cute and each has its own character, so hard to pick the favourite one 😅.And there is a lot to see around in the gorgeous Dordogne: medieval castles, towns, cute villages, prehistoric caves. It is a quite green region with lots of trails as well, so nature lovers will love it too.
When it comes to the project, it was mainly around the guesthouse they are transforming, I must say I love it very much and I am proud to be one of the people who contributed to its realization. The tasks were versatile, from general maintenance, gardening to painting and small construction work. I enjoyed working with Helena and other volunteers, I gained a lot of practical skills I must say and I was able to suggest solutions and be creative.
I can't leave without mentioning Charlie, Teddy, Parker (the doggies) and Thomas, Scooter, Puss(the cats). Theses fiil the place with life and joy, I genuinely enjoyed their company🐈‍⬛🐕. It will be hard without cuddles on the sofa every evening with all of them💘.
I am grateful to the universe that I ended up in this beautiful place inhabited by the beautiful human and animal beings, it really made a difference in my life, thank you for the big warm hug 🙏😌
