Travelling
Description
Hi all!
My name is Jocelyn, and I’m currently taking a gap year between high school and university, and am traveling through Europe to see more of the world and experience life outside of being a student, which is all I’ve really had the chance to do with my 19 years so far :). I’m still looking forward to learning (and have already learned so much!) though, especially about other languages, ecological practices, and ways of life I won’t get exposed to just sitting inside a classroom.
I look forward to going to university eventually—I’m not quite sure what I want to study, though I’ve thought about both literature and social sciences, and have explored these interests a lot during high school and through internships. For this year or so, though, I’m exploring lives I could live that won’t be presented to me unless I go out and seek them. So here I am, seeking!
So far, I’ve stayed in Portugal for a month, doing forest conservation in Sintra; walked the Camino de Santiago into Spain; and worked on a rose farm in Italy. All have been such incredible teaching experiences, loads of fun, and incredibly muddy. The goal is always to get a little muddy though! I love being outside, and as my German friends would say, I’m not made of sugar :)
I don’t have any unique skills besides my curiosity and excitement for life, which I hope comes through in my words here, and my tolerance for a little hard work. Now that I’m in back in the States, I’m looking forward to seeing more of my own country, and I can’t wait to find a place to dedicate myself to some more learning!Interests

As I said before, my skills mainly lay in my attitude, though I do have lots of experience pushing myself to my physical limit with forest conservation and walking the Camino :)

What else ...
With downtime, you can find me reading or writing (I keep a pretty hefty journal!) or crafting, or getting fresh air and playing in the dirt like a literal child. My motto in life is to stop and pet the animals, so being outside is always great for that as well! And always, I enjoy traveling, meeting new friends, and having fun with them or by myself!
