Ciao! My name is Jenna, and I am absolutely thrilled to begin my first cultural exchange in Italy. Originally from Sri Lanka, I grew up in Canada, which will always be my home, despite having lived and traveled to many places throughout my life. I’ve always been captivated by the Italian language, and I am learning it diligently, hoping to improve my skills every day. I cannot wait to immerse myself in Italy’s rich culture, traditions, and of course, its amazing food!

Throughout my life, I’ve been passionate about volunteering and helping others, and I’m excited to continue this in Italy. As a high school Math and Physics teacher with seven years of experience in Canada, I would love to offer my knowledge and help with teaching English or even my own subjects in English. I’m also the proud aunt of three young children (aged 1 to 5), and I truly enjoy playing with them and caring for them. Although I don’t have extensive experience with young children, I am eager to learn and excited to grow in this role during my time with your family.

I have two months off each year (July and August), and I would love to dedicate a month from July into August to do my first Au Pair experience in Italy.

Beyond teaching, I am passionate about the arts — especially painting, crafting, sculpting, and working with my hands. I’ve also recently developed a love for gardening and am always eager to learn new skills. Metalwork and woodwork are areas I’ve been interested in for some time, and I would love the opportunity to explore these crafts further. Growing up in a small village in Germany, I am very comfortable around farms and animals, and I’d be delighted to help out in any way I can in these environments as well.

I also have a deep interest in philosophy, Eastern spirituality, and meditation, and I would love to explore opportunities to work at a spiritual or meditation center. My adventurous spirit drives me to explore the world, and I’m not just a traveler on land – I’m an Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver and hope to become a Rescue Diver in the future!

More than anything, I am hoping for a meaningful experience with your family, filled with connection, learning, and memories that will stay with me for the rest of my life. I am excited to embrace new skills, learn the Italian language, and contribute to your family’s daily life.

I look forward to meeting you and your family this summer!

    Warmly,
    Jenna
