Hi Everyone!
My name is Jin and I’m really excited to discover more about our world through travel and cultural exchange! I first heard of WorkAway from my French teacher who really encouraged and inspired my interest in different cultures and languages, and am especially interested in immersing myself in the customs and traditions of others. I also enjoy sharing aspects of my own culture with others – especially over food!
I’m originally from China but moved to the United States when I was young and have been living in LA ever since – I speak both Mandarin and English fluently! Growing up, I read a lot of “Les Aventures de Tintin et Milou” and a bit of “Asterix et Obelix”. With some exposure to French-Belgian BD’s growing up, I really enjoy learning about the French language and culture. I’ve been taking French classes on-and-off for the last couple years, and am hoping to improve it by meeting more native French speakers – with that being said, please bear with me, my French is a piece of work!
I’m a Medical student in Philadelphia, USA! Outside of studying, I enjoy cycling around town, climbing both indoors and outdoors, spending time outdoors, sitting down somewhere to observe my surroundings, cooking, listening to music, and spending time with my family and friends. I’m pretty active as a person and am ready to take on adventures that await :D.
I have traveled to both Europe and Asia before – I worked a summer in Heidelberg, Germany and occasionally visited family in China. I've participated in WorkAway before in France, but I always appreciate tips and suggestions – there’s always something to learn! When traveling, I have found myself the most happy and in awe when I’m far away from the tourist lines and crowded attractions. To me, it’s the people and culture that makes a place special and because of that, I love to try new foods and meet locals where they are.Interests
