Description

I have finished my Final college exams. I want to join the RAF as a pilot so will apply after my trip to Japan. I love travel and experiencing new cultures. My initial plan is to spend a month in Japan with my friend travelling around and when he returns home I will be staying on to experience more of the country and the people. I have a work holiday visa which I secured from the Japanese Embassy in London.

My passions are playing guitar and drums, flying, skiing, sailing, outdoor activities and martial arts. I have completed my Duke of Edinburgh Bronze, Silver and Gold awards and have been invited to Buckingham Palace to receive my Gold award.
I thoroughly enjoyed the expeditions required for the DofE and felt it helped me develop my skills not only within a team, but as a leader. As a bonus to this I was able to explore rural UK landscapes which peaked my interest in nature (camping and hiking). For residential volunteering, I worked in a holiday camp for people with disabilities. I was one of the only male helpers there and became a part of the senior leadership team working in the majority of the roles at the camp.

I want to explore Japan as I have been interested in the culture and food for many years. I was lucky enough to visit in 2024 and since then have been working towards returning. I am a hands-on person and have helped (at home) with multiple jobs for example garden maintenance, decorating and some mechanical work. I am computer literate and have worked within an office environment on a short term position. I am sociable and work well with others. I had a part time job working in a local gastro pub, my duties include working as a barman and a server, starting out as a kitchen porter. I also spent last season working at the Legoland resort hotel in Windsor as a server and KP in the Brick restaurant which helped me to finace my trip to Japan.

This is my first time travelling solo for an extended period of time, however,
I am really enjoying fully immersing myself in Japan. I have already worked at 2 Workaway in August and September. I hope this experience will help me to develop my Japanese language skills and to give me a greater understanding of the country, people and culture.
