Description
Hello, everyone! Hector and I are currently traveling with the goal of exploring much of Central and Southeast Asia without flying! We’ve been working on this project for over a year now, trying to find alternatives to mass tourism—which is why we’re here.
We’ve both worked in the restaurant industry to save up enough for this trip, so we’re pretty familiar with tasks like cooking, cleaning, and serving. Plus, we both have moms who are very handy—they raised us in the garden and the workshop—so we’re pretty resourceful and love to roll up our sleeves and get to work. As for DIY, we haven’t done much of that yet, although Hector has already tried his hand at stone masonry and renovating facades—but we’d both really love to learn more. We also had the opportunity to work with children during our studies, organizing educational activities.
As for hobbies, we have a strong love for the outdoors and would like to go hiking as much as possible during this trip; we find it’s also a great way to discover a country. Another great way to discover a country, in our opinion, is through food—we’re big foodies, and it’s safe to say that’s a hobby of ours. Finally, we’re naturally curious and are thrilled to have the chance to discover so many cultures this year. Although we also love to read and have been exposed to the joys of museums since we were little, we believe we learn more about cultures from the inside by meeting and interacting with locals—which is why we’re here once again.
What we’re particularly looking for on Workaway is the opportunity to connect with nature and the locals and to discover new things by contributing to local projects. The projects we’re most interested in right now would be construction or renovation projects because we could learn a lot from them. That said, we’re both very sociable people, so housekeeping or even babysitting might also suit us.
To wrap things up with some specifics: I’m the middle child of three sisters, and Hector is the youngest of three brothers. I played tennis when I was little, and Hector played the oboe. And for those who believe in such things—hoping this isn’t a deal-breaker—I’m a Sagittarius and Hector is a Gemini. -

More details about your skills
Last December, we worked a seasonal job at a mountain restaurant in the Pyrenees. Hector was a dishwasher and sometimes helped out as a kitchen assistant. I worked in the dining room and also prepared drinks and desserts. So we’ve developed quite a few skills in everything related to service and the restaurant industry in general. Hector has also worked for a market gardener before, and I often garden with my mom, so we have some basic gardening skills. As for managing a household, we’ve both lived in apartments while we were in school, so we’ve learned the essentials of housekeeping.
