Description
Hello! My name is Fuka Baba, and you can call me Fuka or Fu-chan. "Chan" is friendly and affectionate suffix often used in Japan when calling close friends. I am from Nagano, Japan. Nagano is wonderful place to both visit and live, with beautiful nature, many mountains, clean air, famous sightseeing spots, and delicious, healthy food. In winter, we have a lot of snow, so we can enjoy many winter sports. Currently, I am studying at Uppsala University in Sweden for one year.
In the future, I would like to be an English teacher in Japan who can share the joy of communicating with people from different countries, as well as the fascination of cultural differences. That is why I am very interested in joining a Swedish family and becoming part of your daily life. I hope to experience Swedish culture deeply while also sharing my culture with you.
I truly enjoy talking with people and learning from different perspectives. My family, friends, and teachers often describe me as kind, sociable, and responsible. I am also easy-going and I enjoy working together with others. In Japan, I have taken on many leadership roles, such as class representative, student council president, and club leader. Through these experiences, I have learned how to take responsibility and support others.
My hobbies include traveling, talking with people, playing sports, eating, and listening to music.
When I was 14 years old, I had a homestay experience in Australia for 11 days. It was a life-change experience for me because I discovered the joy of communicating in English and connecting with people from different cultures. I also enjoyed sharing Japanese culture with my host family.
I have traveled to Australia, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Germany. From April to June, I am planning to travel to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Austria, Hungary, Malta, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Spain, and Finland.
In Japan, I have had experience with seven different part-time jobs. Through these, I learned how to cooperate with others and adapt to different environments. I enjoy helping in many ways, such as cleaning, cooking, children, farming, gardening, and eco/ sustainable project!
I would be happy to become a part of your family, contribute to your daily life, and learn from you! I am really looking forward to meeting you! -

More details about your skills
I am currently studying European Studies at Uppsala University in Sweden for a year. In the future, I hope to become an English teacher in Japan who can share the joy of communicating with people from different countries, as well as the fascination of cultural differences. That is way I studied English education and cross-cultural understanding at my university in Japan.
I have teaching experience through practical training: I spent one day in a kindergarten, two weeks in a primary school, and on month in a middle school. I truly enjoy working with children and have learned a lot about how to communicate with and support them.
I can speak Japanese and English, and I have also been studying Swedish at Uppsala University for the past two and a half months.
I love animals very much. I had a toy poodle for 13 years and took care of her with great love. I also looked after two rabbits when I was in primary school.
I have enjoyed growing food since I was little. At home, I grew radishes, cherry tomatoes, strawberries, blueberries, and green onions. At school, I cultivated rice, sweet potatoes, cucumbers, and eggplants, taking full responsibility for the entire process from planting seeds to harvesting. I also enjoy taking care of flowers at my family home!
Cooking is another passion of mine. When I was between 9 to 12 years old, I often cooked dinner for my family by myself. When I did a homestay in Australia at the age of 14, I cooked nikujaga (a famous Japanese dish) for my host family, and they really enjoyed it. I also love organizing birthday surprises for my family and friends, baking cakes and preparing their favorite foods to make them happy.
I have had a variety of part-time jobs, including in food service, tutoring, weddings, and real estate. Through these experiences, I have worked with many different people and developed strong communication and teamwork skills. I always take responsibility and give my best effort in everything I do.
In high school, I worked with friends to research ethical food and organized a group to promote ethical food in our local community. I also participated in city disuccion on SDGs and environmental activities.
I have been playing tennis for over 14 years, and I have also learned soccer, swimming, running, and piano.
I am very interested in cross-cultural exchange and truly enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds. I am very excited about becoming part of your family, experiencing your culture, and sharing my own. I am also really looking forward to helping you and learning as much as possible through this experience! -
