Description
Hello, my name is Frieda. I'm 24 years old and I grew up in Switzerland in a large patchwork family of eight. After graduating, I worked as a medical assistant. Shortly after, I set off to explore the world. I worked and traveled, met amazing new people, learned about different cultures and ways of life and improved my English and French while also picking up some basics of other languages.
Currently I'm in my second semester of Environmental Engineering and I really enjoy it. However I'm looking forward to the three-month summer break, as I miss learning by doing, working with my hands, and being active instead of mostly sitting in the classroom.
I'm a very adaptable, enthusiastic and curious person who is motivated to help others and do good. I enjoy stepping out of my comfort zone and taking on new challenges.
In autumn I'm going back to Switzerland to continue my studies in Environmental Engineering, but until then, I want to make the most of the summer, so let's enjoy life!

More details about your skills
In my studies in Environmental Engineering, I’ve learned how important it is to understand the environment as a whole and how necessary it is to protect it and find more sustainable ways of living. I’m especially interested in practical, hands-on work connected to nature.
I had the chance to do a Workaway on a lovely farm in Ireland for a few weeks, where my tasks were mainly in the self-sustainable garden and with the hens and cows. During another Workaway stay in Norway near Oslo, I learned a lot of practical handicraft skills from a very talented and inspiring woman. We built and tear down fences and did different repairs in the chicken coop and around the house. Through these expieriences I learned a lot about the idea of self-sufficiency and what it really means to live on a farm.
Through my job as a medical assistant, I learned a lot about working with people and responsibility, and also got a better idea of what I want (and don’t want) in life. Growing up in a big family also showed me early how important teamwork is and how to help where help is needed.
I prefer to spend my free time in nature and I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty. I enjoy to help in the garden and be active outdoors. I’m looking forward to learning new things, getting involved, and of course having a great time!
