Description

We are Florencia and Lucía, two Uruguayans passionate about traveling, discovering new places, and connecting with different cultures. Florencia is a primary school teacher, and Lucía is a physical education teacher. Together, we began an exciting journey in New Zealand in 2023, and since then we have chosen to continue exploring the world, learning from every experience and every place that welcomes us.

Our volunteer journey started more than 10 years ago in Uruguay, where we were part of a group dedicated to working with children, families, and institutions in need of support. This experience shaped us deeply and continues to inspire us to offer help wherever we go, always with commitment, respect, and a strong sense of service.

We are active, responsible, committed, and detail-oriented people. We adapt easily to different environments and tasks, having learned to make the most of every opportunity that each country has offered us. We enjoy teamwork, being in nature, meeting new people, and living authentic experiences that allow us to grow both personally and humanly.

This year, we will be in Europe in search of new experiences that allow for a real cultural exchange, where we can contribute our work, our energy, and our values, while also learning, sharing, and continuing to grow alongside the people and communities that welcome us.

Somos Florencia y Lucía, dos uruguayas apasionadas por viajar, descubrir nuevos lugares y conectar con diferentes culturas. Florencia es maestra de primaria y Lucía es profesora de educación física. Juntas comenzamos un emocionante viaje en Nueva Zelanda en 2023, y desde entonces decidimos seguir explorando el mundo, aprendiendo de cada experiencia y de cada lugar que nos recibe. Nuestra historia como voluntarias comenzó hace más de 10 años en Uruguay, donde formamos parte de un grupo dedicado a trabajar con niños, familias e instituciones que necesitaban apoyo. Esta experiencia nos marcó profundamente y nos impulsó a seguir brindando ayuda dondequiera que vayamos, siempre con compromiso, respeto y vocación de servicio. Somos personas activas, responsables, comprometidas y detallistas. Nos adaptamos con facilidad a distintos entornos y tareas, ya que a lo largo de estos años hemos sabido aprovechar y aprender de cada oportunidad que cada país nos fue ofreciendo. Disfrutamos del trabajo en equipo, del contacto con la naturaleza, de conocer personas nuevas y de vivir experiencias auténticas que nos permitan crecer tanto a nivel personal como humano. Este año estaremos en Europa en búsqueda de nuevas experiencias que nos permitan un intercambio cultural real, donde podamos aportar nuestro trabajo, nuestra energía y al mismo tiempo aprender, compartir y seguir creciendo junto a las personas y comunidades que nos reciban.

We thoroughly enjoy both outdoor and indoor activities. We love drawing, playing board games, cooking, and spending time with our pets. Additionally, we are fond of staying active, whether it's through exercising or exploring new places. Sem dúvida, a nossa experiência juntamente com o Pedro, foi incrível e ficará para sempre no nosso coração. Desde o primeiro dia, fomos recebidas com uma enorme simpatia e hospitalidade, tanto pelo Pedro como pela sua família, com quem também tivemos a oportunidade de partilhar momentos muito especiais.
As tarefas no café e no restaurante … read more tornam-se fáceis e agradáveis quando se trabalha com uma equipa sempre disposta a ensinar, apoiar e fazer-nos sentir parte do lugar desde o primeiro momento. Levamos connosco muitas aprendizagens, mas, acima de tudo, o carinho de pessoas maravilhosas.
O ambiente é simplesmente mágico. Está localizado em pleno Parque Nacional da Peneda-Gerês, rodeado por paisagens deslumbrantes e natureza por todo o lado. A poucos minutos encontram-se cascatas e pequenas praias fluviais perfeitas para relaxar e desfrutar da região.
Além disso, tivemos o nosso quarto privado e saboreámos deliciosas refeições portuguesas todos os dias. Estiveram sempre atentos para que nada nos faltasse, fazendo-nos sentir verdadeiramente em casa.
A amabilidade das pessoas do Gerês surpreendeu-nos imenso e fez-nos sentir parte da comunidade. Foi a nossa primeira experiência no Workaway e não poderíamos ter imaginado melhor começo.
Estamos profundamente gratas por esta oportunidade. Se procuram uma experiência autêntica, aprender, contribuir com o vosso melhor e ser recebidos de braços abertos, é sem dúvida um lugar muito especial.

Without a doubt, our experience with Pedro was incredible and will always hold a special place in our hearts. From the very first day, Pedro and his family welcomed us with warmth and kindness, and we had the opportunity to share many special moments with them.
The tasks at the café and restaurant become easy and enjoyable when you are surrounded by a team that is always willing to teach, support, and make you feel part of the place from the very beginning. We are leaving with many new skills, but above all, with the affection of wonderful people.
The setting is simply magical. It is located in the heart of Peneda-Gerês National Park, surrounded by breathtaking nature. Just a few minutes away, there are beautiful waterfalls and small river beaches where you can relax and enjoy the surroundings.
We also had our own private room and enjoyed delicious Portuguese meals every day. They were always attentive, making sure we had everything we needed and making us feel completely at home.
The kindness of the people in Gerês truly amazed us and made us feel part of the community. This was our first Workaway experience, and we couldn't have imagined a better beginning.
We are deeply grateful for this opportunity. If you are looking for an authentic experience, are willing to learn, contribute your best, and be welcomed with open arms, it is truly a very special place.
