Hey there! My name is Fina, I’m 24 and I have taken over my parents love to travel. I now want to start exploring the world on my own. I’ll be embarking on my one year (+) journey sometime in September and I’m looking forward to meeting lots of new people and making friends. I want to explore new places and cultures and challenge myself to do things out of my comfort zone. I love animals, nature and creativity! I’m eager to learn new things and I will help however I can!

I have experience with dogs and cats, as I was fortunate enough to grow up with them and occasionally looking out for the neighbours dogs. I also have spent the last 9 years riding and helping out in a stable with 20 Icelandic horses.

I have worked small jobs as a cashier at a gas station, staff at an event and prepared wares in a small stitching factory.
I have taken care of my families vegetable garden and the house for a year, while they were travelling themselves. In this year I believe I acquired some valuable skills around the house.

I also enjoy sewing, wood working and basically learning anything to find creative solutions for organising or just to make life easier! :)

In my past seven workaway experiences I got to work with horses, cats & dogs, worked in gardens and on renovation projects & met a lot of awesome people. I can't wait to continue this journey!

I love reading and writing and doing puzzles or playing board games just as much as hiking, camping and water sports - I really wanna learn surfing!
I also enjoy painting, sketching and designing. Also I am about to finish my bachelor degree in Media Informatics.

I stayed at this place for about three weeks in March 2025 and had a wonderful time there.
Phil and Kev are kind, welcoming, funny simply awesome people and made me feel right at home, when I got there. The room I got to stay in not only had a window seat like I always dreamed of having one day, it was big and beautiful like pretty much their … read more entire idyllic and well-organised property. And with fresh strawberries in my muesli and a hot chocolate for breakfast every morning, plus two ridiculously good meals prepared for me every day, I truly felt so privileged to stay with them.

Then there’s the lovely pets. Pretty, but shy Polly loves belly rubs and tennis balls and whenever you find her ducking in to the grass somewhere, you can be sure there’s a tennis ball waiting for you to kick or throw for her. Pippin loves attention, cuddles and sleeping while half hanging of a chair or your lap, making you wonder how that could ever be comfy. Miel truly is quite a vocal cat and I had some funny chats with her as she came running up to me whenever I entered my room. Hugging Pippin on the couch during the movie nights and having Miel purr on my chest while trying to fall asleep, is definitely something I miss.

I learned how to set up fireplaces and got to ride one of those ride on lawnmowers, which was a lot of fun. I cleaned windows with Miel keeping me company and helped with the new living room renovation. And I truly did a lot of weeding, occasionally throwing tennis balls for Polly, while the weeds started to grow back where I had finished with them last week. But whether it was weeding, preparing the fire or emptying the dishwasher in the mornings, I gladly did all of it and more, when there was always a furry companion, a great view around the corner and the next delicious meal waiting for me afterwards. Honestly those meals.. Phil and Kev are great chefs and there wasn’t a thing I didn’t love even if we had stuff that I’d never eat on my own.

I didn’t do that much exploring during my stay, because I just enjoyed resting from my travels on their beautiful property, but Phil and Kev showed me around the local towns and would have even lent me a bike or car if I wanted to. They also took me out to have two wonderful dinners with their friends, who are also such great people. I was just a stranger to them, but they included me and made sure I had a great time. Saying good bye to this place, the people and the pets was really tough as it felt like leaving a home again.

Thank you once again so much for everything! I genuinely had the best time and would love to come back someday! Fina
