I am Fien I have a heart for art (especially theatre) and nature, and I love traveling, to discover new places and to connect with locals.

I had the dream, and now I'm making it true. The plan is to spend a year living abroad., starting from October 2024. During this period I prefer to stay in an environment where I can immerse myself in another culture, learn new skills and contribute something. So, Workaway-hosts, here I come!

What brings me happiness? I am most happy when living at the rhythm of the day, reading, playing outdoors (rediscovering the child in myself), working with groups of people and feeling how they, through theatre or conversations, become closer.

About Fien

As a teenager (when she was 13, and 15) Fien already went abroad on exchanges to Poland and Spain, where she started to fell in love with living together with locals in foreign countries. When becoming 18, Fien went off to live in Mexico, where she lived with a Mexican AFS host family for one year. When she came back she studied social cultural work, a career that has everything do with long life learning, cultural education and art.
After that she went to the Theatre academy of Maastricht to become a theatre director and teacher. During all this years of studying, where she learned a lot of skills she also worked a lot as a student in various places and disciplines. She worked in the backstage team of a concert/art-hall in Brussels, did an administration job in several organizations, worked as a animator in a retirement home, and for a long time she took care of the maintenance of the statues in the open-air-museum 'Middelheimmuseum' in Antwerp.
That last one, the working outside, taking care of the Parc, and working with the hands is something she loved to combine with her work as a theatre teacher. Now, she is just giving theatre classes to young kids, and already looking forward to work with her hands again while discovering the world.
