  • Description

Hello everyone and welcome to my workaway profile! :)

    My name is Fabienne (28yo).

I was born and raised in the north of Germany. During my studies (economics & business) I did an Erasmus exchange semester in Ljubljana/Slovenia. Back then I fell in love with spending time in nature, especially in the mountains. That's why I moved to the south of Germany (Freiburg) to spend more of my free time hiking and enjoying mountain landscapes.

Since I finished High School, I felt the urge to travel and explore new places. I stayed abroad in the USA as an AuPair. In my semester breaks I packed my backpack, bought an Interrail ticket and started travelling through Europe. Most of the times together with my boyfriend, but during the last couple of years I started going on solo adventures, too. I enjoyed the challenge of being on my own and solving problems by myself. Eventually I started to feel comfortable spending time alone, because I started to get to know myself better.

At the beginning of 2025 I felt like I needed a bigger change. Even though I had no knowledge at all about DIY and I've never really used any kind of tools, I had this big dream of quitting my job and travelling through europe in a campervan. So I decided to buy a car and self converted it with the help of my boyfriend and my grandpa's tool into a tiny home on wheels. I actually quit my job and for the past 3 months we travelled through Bosnia, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and France.

Now I want to keep exploring on my own.
--> That is why I created this profile to find a place in Italy for November/December where I can learn more about the italian culture/way of living and maybe even try to learn italian :)
--> In January/February I would like to find a job in southern Germany (Allgäu)/South Tyrol so that I could enjoy "real" winter with snow in the mountains

There is a quote saying: "If you are crazy enough to believe that you can, you will"
And I feel like that this is a great answer to this question. I might not be perfect at cooking, gardening, crafts but I love to learn more about it and eventually get better. Since I am a diligent and ambitious person, I believe that I can learn quickly new skills to be a good "workawayer".

  • What else ...

I love being outdoors. In my free time you most likely find me hiking in the forest or the mountains. For me, the best part of a hike is to have a good snack with a good view :D Next to my outdoor adventures I like to travel and explore new places. During the last years I always relied on public transportation, but this year (2025) I self converted a Fiat Doblo into a small campervan. So from now on it's going to be a mix of Interrail and Vanlife for me when I am travelling.
