  • Description

Hi! I’m Emily, originally from the United States and currently based in Colorado.

This year (2026) I’m taking an intentional break from my career to travel, slow down a bit, and experience different communities and ways of life. I’ve spent the past few years working with technology companies, and I’m excited to step away from the corporate pace for a while and spend time learning, contributing, and connecting with people in a more meaningful way.

I studied Journalism and Mass Communication in university, which sparked my curiosity about people, cultures, and stories. While my career ended up taking a different path, that curiosity has stayed with me and is a big part of why I’m excited about opportunities like Workaway.

I’m also a creative at heart. I enjoy things like printmaking, photography, drawing, and painting. I’m definitely still learning and wouldn’t call myself an expert, but I love being involved in creative environments and collaborative projects where people are making things, sharing ideas, and experimenting.

I’m a positive, responsible, and easygoing person who enjoys being helpful and learning new things. I’m happy to contribute in many ways, whether that’s helping with community projects, events, organizing, cooking, basic admin, gardening, cleaning, or simply being an extra pair of hands where needed. I enjoy being part of a team and supporting projects that bring people together.

Outside of work, I love being active, spending time outdoors, exploring new cities and small towns, and learning about local culture through food, traditions, and conversation. I’m especially interested in projects that involve community, wellness, cultural exchange, nature, or creative initiatives.

For me, travel isn’t just about seeing places, it’s about meeting people, sharing experiences, and learning from different perspectives. I’m excited to contribute where I can and hopefully leave every place a little better than I found it.

    Looking forward to meeting you!

  • More details about your skills

My professional background is in tech sales, where I worked closely with companies implementing software and AI-powered solutions. Through that work I developed strong communication skills, organization, problem solving, and the ability to quickly learn new systems and tools. I’m comfortable helping with things like organizing information, writing, basic digital tasks, or general project support if that’s helpful.

I studied Journalism and Mass Communication in university, which gave me experience with writing, storytelling, and interviewing. While I didn’t ultimately pursue journalism as a career, I still enjoy creative and collaborative projects.

Outside of my professional work, I bring a lot of practical everyday skills. I have over 10 years of bartending and hospitality experience, so I’m very comfortable working with people, staying organized in busy environments, and helping create welcoming spaces. I also enjoy cooking and am always happy to help prepare meals or share food with a group.

I’m a bit of a plant lover and indoor plant enthusiast — not an expert, but I enjoy learning about plants and working with soil and gardens whenever I get the chance.

I’m also comfortable using basic tools and helping with small projects or repairs. If I don’t know how to do something yet, I’m usually happy to learn (and not afraid to look up a YouTube tutorial and figure it out!).

Overall, I’m adaptable, curious, and happy to contribute wherever I can. I enjoy learning new skills and being part of projects where people work together and support each other.

  • What else ...

A few other things about me: I love being outdoors and spending time in nature. Whether that’s hiking, exploring a new place, or just sitting outside and watching a sunset. I’m very happy with simple things like fresh food, good conversation, and a beautiful view.

I enjoy music and going to concerts, but I also really appreciate quiet time in peaceful places like the mountains or by the ocean. Balance between adventure and calm is important to me.

I’m a big animal lover, especially dogs (and pigs might actually be my favorite animal). I also have a soft spot for plants and greenery, so being around gardens or nature always makes me happy.

And a few random facts: I love cheese, the color green, trying new foods, and experiencing everyday life in new places. I’m naturally curious and really enjoy learning about local culture through the people who live there.
