Hey you :-)
We are a dutch couple, Erik(47) and Femke(53). we were living in our campervan for 4 years and we"ve travelled from Norway to Maroc. We've seen so many nice and beautiful countries and met wonderful people we call friends now.
But it was time for a change: we sold our campervan and are now travelling around in our car in surch of nice places to work.
Our working background is for Erik: working in restaurants and bars (not as a cook!) for Femke it's: interierarchitecture and she's worked for 18 years as a design teacher and coach for students.
We are pretty handy with building and rebuilding stuff; a lot of DIY.
because we're a bit older we've seen and worked a lot... "hands on" is what we do and we're quick learners.
What we find important is a a nice working environment with guests or other "work awayers".... we want to feel like being part of something again! :-)
We speak English, German a tiny bit of French and off course Dutch.
We love cats, dogs, people, music, dancing, hiking , knitting (Femke) and..... :-) good vibes

Femke is a creative teacher and original a interior designer. She is an open and friendly person, good communicator. She is willing to work hard, learn and get her hands dirty.

Erik used to manage restaurants and later start working as a builder. So he is used to work long houres and tot get the job done.

We are both out of the box thinkers, and don't mind hard or dirty work.

As mentioned before, we really like to learn new abbilities, whatever it may be.

We absolutely loved this family from the first minute. Linda invited us to use the guesthouse for a few days even though they already had two Workawayers and had no need for our help.
But her text messages were already welcoming and friendly, so why shouldn't we go...... And we didn't regret going for a second, we could even stay two weeks! … read more

What was originally meant to be a short stay of just one and a half weeks turned into four wonderful weeks with Erik and Femke and we are incredibly grateful that it did!

When they first contacted us, they were looking for a place to bridge the time until their next Workaway opportunity. We were actually already fully booked and could only offer … read more them a short stay. However, they quickly became such a valuable help that we spontaneously found another accommodation for them so they could stay and support us for longer.

Erik and Femke helped us complete many of the remaining practical jobs in our guesthouses and Workaway accommodation. Their tasks included installing skirting boards and finishing trims, assembling kitchen cabinets, painting, gardening, pruning trees, clearing overgrown paths and much more. Erik even built a carport largely independently, a project that required a great deal of precision. He often worked even more accurately than we would have ourselves, which we truly appreciated! Any painting work could be handed over to Femke without hesitation. She worked extremely carefully and always made sure that every tool was cleaned and returned to exactly where it belonged.

There seemed to be nothing they could not do. More importantly, they did not simply complete tasks: they approached everything with thought, common sense and their own ideas. They worked independently after an initial explanation, while always checking in whenever something was unclear. Communication and coordination were direct, easy and completely uncomplicated. They were always punctual, reliable and conscientious.

From their very first day, Erik and Femke fitted naturally into our family and farm life. They were warm and open with our son as well as with the other Workawayers staying with us. We often sat together in the evenings, talked about the day and listened to stories from their many experiences as long-term travellers. They brought a wonderful, positive atmosphere to the group.

They also treated their accommodation and all shared spaces with great care (honestly, they left everything cleaner and tidier than they had found it! )❤️

Erik and Femke complement each other perfectly as a team. We would wholeheartedly recommend them to any host looking for dependable, skilled and thoughtful people who can work independently, keep their eyes open and genuinely care about doing a good job.

The only possible warning for future hosts is that we may have spoiled them a little with all our shared meals! 😉

We would welcome them back without a second thought and sincerely hope that our paths will cross again. Thank you both for everything, you will always be very welcome here.
