Hi, we’re Ellie & Luke!

We’re a couple of outgoing, hard working and friendly 29 year olds looking to share, learn and be part of amazing new experiences. We’ve recently left our jobs in London, Luke as an Earth Scientist and Ellie working in the Outdoor Industry. Over the last 8 years we’ve worked and travelled together and we are very excited to see South-East Asia over the next year or so. We’d love the chance to get to grips with some local culture in exchange for work.

We are adventurous, and love experiencing different styles of living. We approach all situations with positivity and a friendly smile, which helps get things done well and be energised in the process.

Outdoor sports are how we fill lots of our free time. Surfing is something we’re enthusiastic about! Being outside and close to nature is something we can never get enough of.

More details about your skills

We have a wide range of skills, are very hard workers and quick learners. We love trying new things but also sharing our knowledge with others. We’re both resourceful problem solvers and able to crack on with the job.

- Farm work /building / manual labour - We are both very physically able, with lots of experience with manual labour, including building, general maintenance & farm work. Both have our full driving licences, Luke has lots of 4WD / off road experience & Ellie has driven quads/tractors. We are both very practically minded, good at fixing things and have experience working in extreme environments. Both have some light experience with sheep & lambing.

- Project management/ organisation / operations/ events
- We're both very organised people, with experience organising and running large scale projects through our recent work, managing & leading teams of people. Ellie has experience organising and running medium size events, while Luke has worked on very large scale events as a guest services team lead, organising and executing international events.

- Earth & environmental sciences/ Sustainability
- We both hold degrees in Earth sciences, with particular focus on environmental science. We are very passionate about the subject, and happy to teach others about it too! Luke also has lots of experience with Cartography (making and using maps), visualising in 3-D and communicating geographical data

- Children / teaching
- We both have lots of experience working with kids of all ages, Luke as a scout leader, tennis coach and school tutor; and Ellie as a summer camp counsellor and horse riding teacher.

- Computer / website building
- Luke has experience building websites and is generally very handy with all computer things.

- Cooking / hosting / cleaning
- Ellie has run a large restaurant kitchen, producing high volume & high quality food. As well as smaller private chef / dinner party style cooking, hosting & cleaning and waitress and bar work / hostel hosting.

- Horses
- Ellie has worked with horses for over 15 years, doing everything from international eventing yards, showing jumping, riding schools, young horse education, various styles of natural horsemanship, trekking & teaching both adults & children. She's a quiet and sympathetic rider excited to keep learning.

- Fundraising / finance
- Ellie has lots of experience fundraising from private & institutional investors, creating pitch decks, as well as running financial forecasts and budgets.

What else ...

We've been together for 8 years, so know how to work well as a team. We love to try new things and meet new people. We love all things outdoors, skiing, mountain biking, surfing, hiking, swimming and Luke skydiving (although he has not yet got Ellie to jump!). We're excited for the next adventure workaway will bring!
