I am currently taking a year out to slow down, learn new skills, and experience life in different places. I live in the countryside in the UK, so being outdoors, working with my hands, and getting involved in practical or creative projects is something I am very used to and genuinely enjoy. I am particularly happy with DIY and crafty tasks, and I enjoy learning new ways of doing things.

What motivates me most is becoming part of everyday life somewhere new. I love sharing meals, exchanging skills, and learning about local culture through daily routines rather than simply passing through as a tourist. I enjoy cooking and am always keen to share food and learn new recipes along the way.

I am independent, proactive, and adaptable, and I try to be reliable and respectful of other people’s space. Hosts usually find me easy to live with. I am happy to join in with family or community life, but I am also very comfortable working independently and enjoying quiet time when appropriate. Above all, I am looking for a genuine cultural exchange where I can contribute, learn, and leave having shared something meaningful.

I have a wide range of practical skills, especially suited to countryside and hands-on projects. I grew up on land that used to be a farm, so I am very comfortable gardening, weeding, and getting stuck in with outdoor work. I have experience driving a small tractor, using garden strimmers and a chainsaw, and carrying out basic DIY tasks around the home, including painting and general repairs.

I also have experience with animal care. I currently look after two dogs and some chickens, and in the past I have cared for pigs, geese, ducks, and ponies. Living in the countryside, I am used to walking through fields with farm animals such as cows and sheep, and I am comfortable being outdoors in all kinds of weather.

In addition, I am independent and reliable in the home. I can cook, clean, and manage tasks efficiently. I am dual national, living in Britain, and I speak French very well, which can be useful for cultural exchange. Overall, I enjoy hands-on work, learning new skills, and being part of everyday life.
