Description

Nice to meet you, my name is Sophie I'm 19 from Victoria, Australia. For the next 2 years I plan to travel and work around Canada. I finished secondary school last year and started a horticulture apprenticeship but have now decided this is the time to travel. I'm looking forward to seeing the Rockies, Yoho National Park, Vancouver Island and so many more beautiful places. This will be my first time solo travelling but I want to push myself out of my comfort zone and explore the world.

In my down time I enjoy listening to music, hanging out with my friends and family, or spending time with my dog, Dusty. I also enjoy camping, riding dirt bikes and fishing, however after 19 years I am still yet to catch a fish.

I'm motivated by keeping busy, learning new skills and challenging myself so I can get the best out of life. I enjoy hands on work and love being able to see the end result of a hard days work.

Growing up on a farm taught me numerous animal handling skills, from riding horses for 10 years to working with cattle, sheep and chickens. I am also quite handy in the garden, I have done upkeep on my family's large garden including pruning, mowing, weeding and small landscaping tasks. Additionally, I have worked at a plant nursery for the past 3 years and began studying horticulture, therefore I have a strong understanding and knowledge of plants and horticulture.
I have volunteered for Landcare which involved planting trees and cleaning up local creeks. I have a manual drivers license. I have some experience operating tractors, excavators, bobcats and forklifts. I have worked all kinds of jobs in hospitality, agriculture, horticulture, viticulture, sales and construction so I'm sure there will always be something I can help out with.
