Hi there, my name is Darryl and I'm a 29 year old currently living in BC, (Vancouver Island) but am planning to visit somewhere warm and sunny soon and eager to immerse in a new culture and make lifelong connections.

I am a hard working, positive minded person that constantly is seeking a bit of change in my life. A big reason why I decided to join this program was to meet new people and have a chance to help others with their dreams as well.

I think of myself to be an honest, motivated and trustworthy person who is always there to help the people in my life. I have volunteered with Big Brothers for 3 1/2 years, volunteered at a wildlife rehab center, currently I work in residential construction (specifically sheetmetal - ductwork installation and fabrication) and I am an on call firefighter as well.

I have so many hobbies most of them being active and outdoors. Hiking, backcountry camping, hunting, fishing, working out, archery and cycling to name a few. I really appreciate a healthy lifestyle and try to exercise daily and consume healthy foods. (Not a vegan, vegetarian, gluten free etc) but do love the farm / field to table idea. Whether it's through farming, hunting or fishing.

It's been a while since I've done a workaway and am really craving the experience of meeting new people, exploring a new place and learning a few new skills.

A few things I enjoy doing / have some sort of experience in is gardening, cooking, butchering, landscaping and sheet metal Installation (ductwork) so I do have a general knowledge of residential construction. I do have a very easy ability to try new tasks and normally doesnt take me too long to get the hang of things.

What else ...

I love hanging out with my friends normally outdoors hiking, fishing / hunting, camping, running my dog and working out. Although my life is pretty active I really do enjoy coming home and preparing a healthy dinner and just relaxing.

I really enjoy being with people but I also enjoy my free time to myself so a good balance of that would be ideal for me.

I would have my own vehicle as well so I could assist with any errands you may need help with as well.
