Hi there! I’m Cristina 👋
I am 24 years old (well, almost 25!) and I’m at a point in my life where I’ve decided to trade the "expected" path for a more authentic one.

My background is in Languages (English and Spanish) and I hold a Master’s in Communication from Milan, Italy. For the past two years, I’ve been working in a fast-paced social media and communication agency here in the city. It’s been an intense journey, but I’ve recently decided to wrap up this experience in May 2026.

Why? Because I’ve started re-evaluating my priorities. I’ve realized that while Milan has been my base, it doesn't feel like "home." I’m ready to step out of my comfort zone to explore the world and, more importantly, to understand myself on a deeper level. My goal is to find what truly matters and try to make a difference, however small, along the way.

I am so excited to meet you all, share stories, and embark on this journey of personal growth together!

Speaking about my skills I can certainly mention my abilities with languages: thanks to my studies I can speak English, Spanish and a little of Russian (in addition to Italian, which is my native language). I have a really good knowledge of all computer stuffs: I can use the most important Office program (Word, Excel, ect...). Moreover I am a really fast learner: if I still am not able to do something, give me just a few hours and I will! I am also really good in problem solving and I am able to deal with lots of different kind of situations. I am really good at communication with people: I love to speak with them, listen to their problems and help to solve them (I think that my years of experience as a waitress really help me in developing this kind of skills).

I spent my time volunteering here, working mainly on communication, and it was an experience I’ll carry with me for a long time.

The first thing to say is how welcoming the volunteer house is. Mr. Joseph, co-founder of the organization, and Madame Ruth, Eden Vision School principal, are two of the kindest people I have ever met. They made me feel … read more like part of the family from day one, and through them I got to know Tanzanian culture from the inside: daily life, food, traditions, and the generosity of people who share what they have. That kind of welcome can’t be organized. It comes from who they are.

Veronica, the volunteer manager, made sure that every aspect of my stay was taken care of, from the practical details to the experience as a whole. She also organized and booked activities and excursions outside the organization’s work, including safaris and visits to local tribes, so I could discover the country with confidence. Her care and professionalism made a huge difference.

I also worked very closely Sara, co-founder of the organization. Even though she wasn’t physically in Tanzania during my stay, she was extremely present in my work every step of the way. Her guidance helped me fully understand the direction to take and how my skills could leave a concrete, long-term mark on the community. I couldn’t have asked for a better person to work with.

The wider community is just as welcoming. Everyone I met, at the organization and beyond, was open, friendly and happy to share their world with me.

The beginning of my experience was a little challenging: since I worked in communication, my first phase was about retrieving and organizing materials and giving them a clear structure. It wasn’t always obvious where I could step in and be most useful to the community. But once the goals of my collaboration were defined, everything became much clearer. I had the chance to meet the Maasai community, and that gave real meaning and direction to my work. Seeing the people behind the stories I was helping to tell was the most rewarding part.

The experience also moved me to do something more: I decided to become a sponsor of a little girl , Shaeen, at the Eden Vision School. The sponsorship program is truly wonderful. I got to meet her in person, and as sponsors we receive updates about the children every week, so the connection doesn’t end when you go home. It’s a transparent, personal way to stay part of a child’s journey over time.

I would recommend this experience to anyone who wants to give their skills, learn from the community, and be welcomed with open arms. Asante sana to everyone here, for everything.
