Description
Hello, I’m an Englishman who now lives in France, having escaped the pressures of modern city life, and I now enjoy a tranquil and less pressurised lifestyle. In 2000 I bought an old farmhouse which had been empty for over 30 years and was partly in ruin. I've rennovated it using traditional methods whenever possible and there’s always more to do. I love where I live and am very integrated into the local community.
In England I was a social worker for 12 years working with troubled young people and families. I then decided to become self employed as a handyman. I enjoy all sorts of skilled work. I am managing the garden using permaculture methods, and grow a lot of my own fruit and vegetables. I like being outdoors gardening or hiiking. I am interested in traditional values and styles so I love hunting down old handmade treasures for my house.
I have always enjoyed independent travelling in order to experience different cultures and food. I have visited about 70 countries all around the world, and spent several years (in total) of my life backpacking, but now I have settled down a bit and voyage in my 4x4 campervan. During the winter I like to travel south to find some sunshine and meet new people and try new foods.
I have had some long term relationships, but now I am on my own and am happy in my own company. I don’t have any children. I enjoy socialising and have a jolly time, but I am also very independent and need to spend time quietly to recharge my batteries.

More details about your skills
I used to be a self-employed handyman in England, and I am very practical and can fix things. I am very experienced in all building trades and car mechanics. I am restoring my own house and I do all the carpentry, electrics, stonework, plumbing and decorating. I also created my own campervan from an old military ambulance. I like to plan things well and then complete the work to a high standard. When I travel in my van I usually carry some of my tools.

I have no teaching experience, but I was made very welcome and was able to assist in some lessons with experienced local teachers. I also did several one to one conversation sessions with students.
