Hello Hosts!
My name is Carolina (born 2002), and I’m a recent 2025 graduate in Marine and Natural History Photography from Falmouth University in the UK. I’m originally from the north of England, and I’m will be based in Tromsø, Norway this summer, working as a junior researcher at the Arctic-Alpine Botanical Garden until September.
I'm passionate about ecology, documentary photography, trekking, and spending time in wilderness areas. I value a healthy, active lifestyle and enjoy swimming and running. I prefer working outdoors, am hardworking and adaptable, and feel equally comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
Why I'm on Workaway
I’m looking for an opportunity in the Arctic North because I’m fascinated by the region—its landscapes, biodiversity, and communities. I’m hoping to contribute meaningfully to a project while gaining hands-on experience and expanding my understanding of life in remote northern areas.
Professional Background
- Documentary Photographer – You can view my portfolio here: www.carolinaclementsphotography.com
- Research & Botanical Work – Experience as a junior researcher at Botaniska (Sweden) and at the Arctic-Alpine Botanical Centre in Tromsø.
- Marine & Outdoor Skills – Commercially endorsed mariner and certified scuba diving guide.
- Boatyard & Harbour Work – Over three years of experience in Cornwall as a harbour worker and boat builder.
- Hospitality & Maintenance – A year in Costa Rica managing a tropical garden and hosting at an adventure hostel, plus a year in the Azores as a scuba diving guide and instructor.
- Practical Skills – Confident with tools, building, maintenance, and gardening. Strong knowledge of ecology, fieldwork, and plants.
- Certifications – Beach lifeguard certified, first aid trained, various commercial maritime endorsements.
This year, I’m taking a break from formal education to save funds for a Master’s in Arctic Indigenous Studies in Norway. Between periods of paid work, I’m seeking meaningful experiences—particularly those connected to conservation, land stewardship, traditional knowledge, or any hands-on work in remote areas.
No dietary requirements or medical conditions, physically fit.
Looking forward to connecting!
Warm regards,
